That's not what I'm implying. We were always told it would be around New Year he might be back but he's also been out for over a year and no one knows if he'll come back any good so the manager and club will have, I hope, not shaped the squad under the assumption he'd be back to contribute this season.
Oh right, agree mostly. I mean, he SHOULD contribute this year. Not in any semblance of the word "significantly" but he should be available off the bench and a start here/there.

Well he should, if he's fit, but if they're worried and taking him slowly then just park him for a few months till the Summer.

We signed 2 centre mids in the Summer to add to the 5 we had and only sold Schneids after so to me I don't think the squad and transfer strategy revolved around Gbamin contributing much this season.

It's a shame but I think you'd have to be an extremely positive person to have thought in the Summer "we're okay for numbers in midfield we've got JPG back at Christmas".
Oh I didn't mean in that sense. I mean for him, for the club in general etc. Two entire seasons is out is massive. The longer he goes without getting on the pitch the harder it's going to be to get back, if he'd been able to play bits and pieces from now then there'd be a chance he could have been ready to start next season at full throttle (whatever level full throttle is going to be for him now). If he's out for all of this season then you're probably looking at halfway through next season before he's fully up to speed. The very fact Ancelotti thought it necessary to say 'we expect him to make a full recovery' is concerning, because it makes it sound like there's still a very real chance that he won't.

Oh I mean give him 5-10 mins here and there but the season is over in a few months. I'd just be worried about bringing him back, having fans demanding him play lots of minutes and boom, injured again. If it means parking him till Summer, then letting him grow with the team (he wouldn't start anyway if Allan is his role) then I'm cool with it.

"it should be soon that he will be available to train with the team"

Confident that he will be back "yes, for sure"
Soon has been the message since before Christmas...something isnt right here and the club/manager is clearly going with let's not talk about it type of message. I have a feeling that this goes beyond the physical aspect of the player...maybe some kind of mental issue? Convinced this guy is not even in the country.

That's fine. We never really planned to have him for this season so let him come back start of pre-season when he'll be ready.
So why giving him a place in the squad...put besic there instead...I am sure at least he would have been more useful even for a few minutes he could have played.
