Like he's on a free....but I dont think he'll be a regular...and all the Leeds fans I know dont rate him very highly in regards to be a premiership striker, think he wonders in and out of games and is a bit lazy. Even though he's banged goals in for them, they dont like him too much.

His effort has gone south since putting in a transfer request in January and hows no effort on the field.

Two things go in our favour, Yakubu was exactly the same when he came and there is no way Moyes would tolerate it.

Coming from them, thats not really a great concern.

Its more anger at the fact he's leaving and the fact that Leed's 1-dimensional play and poor form (as a team) has seen them lose some games stupidly.

They've said it for a while, he gets goals, but other than that he's almost as bad as Yak and Saha for grafting (even in the Manu and Spurs game he was the same). He's known for a bad attitude and handed his transfer request in about 5 times wanting to move...but no one wanted him.

I dont mind him being on a free....but he's got Marcus Bent written all over him IMO.

as posted elsewhere but thought I'd bump this up even though I informed everyone on here two/three weeks ago its a cert.



My point is the guy has scored goals against premier league opposition (Man Utd and Tottenham) from poorer service and in a division 1 team.

For a free player its worth us seeing what he can do. We could also make him a better player. Thats the big attraction of our club. We make players better. Jagielka. Baines. Pienaar. Just illustrations

He's strong got a nasty streak - which we miss in Yak and Saha and can make his own chances. If he's getting better quality service from a midfield who actually play football he can do the business.

Marcus Bent was a grafter though ? huh?

I think he will graft. I also think he's a different sort of player to Yakubu and Saha. This guy will scrap with the opposition defenders.

Equally with us he'll be in the big time. So he'll be desperate to perform, and also with a top top manager who'll manage him.

Look at Saha. Did anyone in their wildest dreams think we'd get him performing to the level he has?


Beckford's got pace and a nasty streak we're missing methinks. We rely on Cahill for all that too much.

Bent in terms of...not gonna be getting those goals people have been whinging about ie we need a new striker arguments.

As for Saha, yes, when fit. He's been fit, he scores goals.

I dont mind the signing, especially on a free. But I only see him as an better option than Vaughan and Anichebe than Yak or Saha. Good business but I dont expect anything special from him. He does have pace though.

Its a no brainer overall. If he cant hack the prem, he doesnt get played and we'll probably sell him for a fair bit of coin.

Remember when we went to Anfield and couldn't get that goal when they went two banks of four?

Well its the likes of them games when you need a fighter to go toe to toe with Carragher the grabbing pushing scratching toe rag.

This lad will fight and when we go away to places like Old Trafford and Anfield, he'll put himself around - especially if Benitez plays "anti football".

This lad's been in a poorer team, against teams that only know how to play anti football, and had to create stuff himself.


I wish Moyes could have thrown him on against Liverpool in the derby this year.

This lad would have drawn players to him and really got in amongst that two rows of four and made runs past them.

He could be that type of player, when the opp go ultra negative / anti football like Liverpool.... this lad will give our players space and options. He'll also scrap with serial foulers like Carragher.

So basically like a fit James Vaughan?

Leeds play some decent stuff with good players like Snodgrass and Beccio. Dont forget they were walking league 1 until they beat United and things went a bit sour from then on.

He'll give us an option and hopefully he'll work his socks off - something Leeds fans say he doesnt do for them and gets all moody most of the time. He's been their leading goal scorer for seasons and their fans dont like him. Bit strange like mainly due to his attitude.

Moyes is never wrong with signings. But Im sure he's not going to be "that" player to take us the next level. Like I say, good bolster to the squad on a free. Wont get much of sniff if Yak and Saha are firing on all cylinders though.
