He's got pace?

Sign him up then. Cause obviously everyone who can run a bit faster than anyone else is brilliant.

From what I've heard he has and I believe he has. I haven't seen him much apart from that goal against Man Utd where he accelerated for 5 s to get into a decent positon.

I also want someone with burning pace and stamina. I am sure if moyesy scouts pace there would be some really good pacy players with a bit of quality too which is massive for us. Beckford just gives me the idea of quantity, not quality.

Vic aint good enough, Jutkiwicz also aint good enough, Baxter, well is he a forward??, Vaughan is injury prone and Agard looks to have all the pace in the world yet seems to just have that. Who thought Cahill would be a success when Moyes bought him from Millwall. There is plenty of talent in the lower league's, players like Jobi McAnuff and Jermaine Beckford.

Baxter can play either upfront and on the wide. That's what i heard when he came through. Vic has an unseen impact. I had the same idea as you that Vic isn't good enough but last season he did put up some really impressive performances specially at Anfield and then against Villa in the fa cup. That was one of his rare appearances there so yes if given time on the pitch I'm sure he'll get better and better. I don't have to mention the impact he had in uefa cup cos that's there to be seen.

Yes, Jutebox isn't good enough despite my reconsideration time and time again.

Now Agard and Baxter. Both look very bright when they come on for the last 2/3 minutes and I'd rather give the exciting youth a chance then Beckford, who even if does come in will find it very hard to get the spot up front.

Moyes has seen something obviously so I'll leave it to him like always for the best(y)

All this third league third tier stuff - look at Coleman he came from the Irish League - League 1 looks like Samba football in comparisson. Yet he has proven well able to make the step up, Beckford has shown the signs also.

I hear we've been after him since the summer and approached Leeds with serious intent about both he and Delph - Leeds were very reluctent sellers especially with what we offered for him going into the last year of his contract. Was a massive no after the Garbutt affair.

I can see where you are coming from but it's different when you are a youngster being scouted by a PL team not to be put in straightaway in the first team but you have time to get yourself up for the task gradually and then target the next step, "getting in the team" not the starting line up straightaway.

Even Peterlin was brought here at 22 and he claimed on the club website that he has been playing like "michael carrick" recently and his idol is partick viera. That made me think is he really that good?? i haven't heard anything about him since then. He's in the reserves since then nowhere close to the first team. He didn't even made the Bate game at GP.

Beckford is an established player and it wouldn't be good for him to be in the reserves at 26 when surely he could have made it to some lower table leagues where he would be involved much much more than I think he woud be here.

Maybe I am wrong but I'll wait and see what Moyes has seen in him

You could have said the same thing as Coleman as of Peterlan in his first season though really couldnt you!

Timmy Cahill wasnt that young when he signed for us from the lower leagues.

To name a few others who have made the jump from the lower leagiues and excelled:

Lucas Neill
Stephan Hunt
Jimmy Bullard
Ian Wright
Teddy Sheringham
Ian Wright
Jags
Lescott
Andy Johnson
Ashly Young
Darren Bent
Walcott
Ramsey
Keane
Ashton
Platt
Danny Murphy
Redknapp
Jansen
Philips

............................the list goes on!

I think you're being overcritical over something that has very low risk to the club faddy as Steevie & Neiler has took turns to beat you around the head and shown you.

I am not criticising Beckford. Neiler and Steevie have there points which show he can be good signing. I just can't see him fitting anywhere in the team right now and those are my concerns. We all think differently obviously.

Oh and yes, there's not much risk involved so not much of a problem having him here...I hope if he does come in, he gets time to show why he is here and that's what I am talking about, him getting opportunities in everton's first team.

Agreed mate! Like I said, lets hope he then gets opportunities to show what he can do.(y)

From what i hear mate Moyes has rated him for a while, if he comes i think he just takes Jos spot. Im thinking back to last year and despite having a decent number of strikers we were still found short cant see the harm to be fair.

I think most players start off as a squad players in one of Moyes' teams. If/when they earn their chance then they have to take it, if he didnt then sound as we would likely make a profit on someone who cost us nothing.

Good point. "Lightning never strikes twice" but still....who knows, why taking any chances?

Not for me , though .
Vaughny by another name - but not as good , nor with a smidgen of the attitude as our Jamesy - .

Its easier to score when you teams 2/3 up and the pressure is off. You'll never see him grind out a win because he see's his arse and you may as well play with 10 men.

You seem to talk an awful lot of [Poor language removed] about him, so I decided to do some research of Beckford's goals this season for Leeds.

He has 20 goals this season between all competitions.

Leeds beats Man U 1-0, Beckford scores winning goal
Leeds beats Stockport 4-2, Beckford scores goal with Leeds down 2-1 and with Leeds up 3-2
Leeds beats Hartlepool 3-1, Beckford scores goal with Leeds down 0-1 and with Leeds up 2-1
Leeds beats Kettering 5-1, Beckford scores goal in extra time with Leeds up 4-1
Leeds ties Kettering 1-1, Beckford scores goal with Leeds down 0-1
Leeds beats Brighton 3-0, Beckford scores with Leeds up 1-0
Leeds beats Grimsby 3-0, Beckford scores with Leeds up 2-0
Leeds beats Yeovil 4-0, Beckford scores with Leeds up 2-0
Leeds beats Bristol 4-0, Beckford scores with the game tied 0-0, and with Leeds up 2-0
Leeds beats Norwich 2-1, Beckford scores with the game tied 1-1
Leeds ties Carlisle 1-1, Beckford scores off his own missed penalty with the game tied 0-0
Leeds beats Gillingham 4-1, Beckford scores with Leeds up 3-1
Leeds beats Colchester 2-1, Beckford scores with the game tied 1-1
Leeds beats Tranmere 3-0, Beckford scores with Leeds up 1-0
Leeds beats Walsall 2-1, Beckford scores with the game tied 1-1
Leeds beats Exeter 2-1, Beckford scores with the game tied 0-0 and with the game tied 1-1

So first of all, Leeds doesn't lose when Beckford scores. That's a cool stat. Anyway Out of his 20 goals, 12 of his goals tied the game or gave Leeds the lead.

Yes I was bored at work :P
