2024/25 Jesper Lindstrom

If you buy two number 10's who had awful seasons playing out of position on the wing last year, then proceed to play them both out of position on the wing, wtf do you expect?

Half the forum writing them off as crap whilst at the same time moaning about the negative tactics and playing people out of position.

Same people saying change manger cos a new one will get a tune out the players - then writing the same players off as crap - can't have it both ways

Yeah i’d be more inclined to believe that a change of position would ignite his time here if he’d shown any glimpses of ability so far. Playing out of position means you might not show your very best level, it doesn’t mean that you completely lose the ability to produce anything at all.

This is it. I remember people begging for Arteta to be moved to centre mid after his first few years at the club being an inside right. For most of that time he was fantastic and it only became stale towards the end - he'd more than earned that move inside when it came.

Most of these players we have couldn't perform consistently in any position. We shouldn't deluded ourselves otherwise.

- Kevin we need a goalscoring winger

I’ve got about 25p, a half scratched scratch card and some goodwill from a few years back, I’ve got just the man.

The fella has his hands tied behind his back, he wanted several players before Lindstrom - clearly.

- Kevin you’ve just spent £15 million on a 4th choice central defender and you spent all last summers money on 2 strikers that have barely started a match. Maybe you shouldn’t have done that.

Luckily I know a guy who let us pay on Klarna, nobody else I agreeing to those terms funnily enough.

(The Chermiti one I’ll give you 🤣 - hope he comes good though)

As a club we seem to get very bogged down with the idea our players are going to transform their output with changes in their position.

I've seen very little to suggest Lindstrom would play well in any of the forward positions. Left, right or centre, he'd still lack strength and just the general ability to create anything worthwhile.

New league, awful tactics and manager, playing in a position he’s already bombed in and not once tried at number 10 where he won a Europa league and got a big money move.
Good job we are scoring loads of goals with McNeil (you know Dwight who had never played in that position before in his entire career) there, no point in changing or trying anything different

Won't write a new player off when he's an attacking central player whose getting played as a defensive wingback almost under the anti football Dyche.

Get Dyche gone, get a new manager in like Potter then judge the lad when he's being played in an actual football team.

Can discuss this player all day.

The fact is that he, Harrison, Ndiaye & McNeil have performed better in different positions/roles then theyre currently being used in.

Without them being used in those roles there is no way of knowing if their output will improve.

The only good thing here is that we 'own' McNeil & Ndiaye and only have Harrison & Lindstrom on loan.

Personally i'd be using McNeil on the left if were looking to put crosses into the box or on the right if we want him to drift infield.

Ndiaye should be 10 as he's the difference maker.

Who did he play under at Napoli?

I know Conte went there in the summer and evidently didn't fancy him, hence him being here on loan.

[edit] Apparently Rudi Garcia, Walter Mazzarri and Francesco Calzona.

Spalletti was the guy who wanted and signed him, but he resigned before the season started, Garcia took over and lasted until November, replaced by Materazzi who lasted until February replaced by Calzona who left in the summer. Spalletti played an attacking 4-3-3 - so he'd have been playing a similar position to at Frankfurt as they didn't play wingers
