2024/25 Jesper Lindstrom

Spalletti was the guy who wanted and signed him, but he resigned before the season started, Garcia took over and lasted until November, replaced by Materazzi who lasted until February replaced by Calzona who left in the summer. Spalletti played an attacking 4-3-3 - so he'd have been playing a similar position to at Frankfurt as they didn't play wingers

I also read that here, it's what that Lindstrom expert/blogger told everyone but then Spalletti left Napoli in May 2023. Lindstrom signed for Napoli in August 2023.

Other than the commentary from the same PR bloke when he signed - I struggled to find any ref to Spalletti/Lindstrom, or even ref to any pre agreement. I dont think it exist, because he signed late in that summer transfer window.

The window shuts in Italy 30th Aug. He signed on 29th Aug.

So he signed for Napoli, and evidently wasn't fancied by Garcia, Mazzarri or Calzona.

He's not a right winger mate.

I like Lindstrom a lot, but if we do t end up playing some form of three up top with two wide forwards then there's frankly no chance he'll succeed here.

Can get by in lower leagues playing out of position of you're good enough - like at Molde, in Germany he did very well precisely cos he was played in his natural position.

He won't succeed in a top league outside of that role.

Basically whoever replaces Dyche and the system they use will determine if the lad has a shot.

I was like a stuck record saying he wasnt a winger when we signed him, and how we started the season with 2 in McNeil and Harrison. I still think that.

But can we go back to reference to Spalletti? As keen to understand that.

I have a feeling that blogger just blagged everyone.

I'm going purely from stuff our kev said as he was talking to Napoli fans when we signed him, could just be hearsay but the jist of what they said was spalletti wanted him and after he left Napoli with stuck with the deal they'd agreed with his reps, a bit odd if they did and tining seems off as well as spalletti left in June player arrived i think early august

I have been like a stuck record saying that Lindstrom himself said on joining us that he wasn't a winger
Did we sign him because we thought he was a winger and didn't ask him or is it just another case of us playing players in the wrong position?
Another signing by Brian Rix

Yeah he left May and Lindstrom rocked up a day before their transfer window shut in August.

So think we can forget the Spalletti signed him stuff.

Failing at Napoli isn't a slant on the lad, especially in a chaotic year but for whatever reason, a few managers haven't fancied him there and Conte arrived in the summer and booted him out the door.

I can't see anything in his game myself. I'll be surprised if he ever performs for us.

Dont think he was ever a priority. We wanted Gnonto, Minteh, Philogene - think him being a £2m loan fee and us being desperate.

Could be right Danny.

Thing is Thelwell did want the lad, the player himself said he'd had contact before the Napoli move for example.

Honestly think Thelwell has been recruiting for a manager after Dyche - a mistake? Maybe so, hopefully one that pays offong term though.

We might have ten or twenty decent players here. But to be honest, we won't know before Dyche is gone. IMHO.
Managers might stop players from showing their best form, they very rarely make them look absolutely crap if they’re actually good. We do have this weird obsession with convincing ourselves that there are mad reasons why our players look crap, when 99% of the time it’s genuinely just that they are crap.

Surprised Dyche has started the last few games and not pushed McNeil out there to stick Doucs back up with Dom.

Cos none of them are creating or scoring.

Bet Harrison has a games clause in his contract we're probably hitting.
