2024/25 Jesper Lindstrom

To me he's a slower version of Demari Gray but he cost buttons.

And if I'm being honest, I'd rather have a Dermari Gray type player for that price to add pace and depth in the squad.

Hudson Odi cost £3mill. Elanga (turned us down) cost £15mill for example.

There's more effective cheaper.
Unfortunately Demari Gray had a far better output, wish Lindstrom was as effective tbh. I like the lad, seems a nice guy just not suited for the league. Agree entirely there is far better for cheaper.

Yeah. Think him and Harrison are honest players, work hard, give everything. But it's price Vs output and because we don't want to fall into the trap we've been stuck in for 5+ years, we need to be more diligent

Was at the Portugal v Denmark match last night and kept a very close eye on Lindstrom.

First half, I thought he was very mediocre, concentrating mainly on pressing and closing passing channels. Thought his reticence to shoot and take on his man meant that Denmark lacked bite.

The game opened up in the second half and he was taken off just after the hour mark, which I found strange (and so did the Danish fans) as he was really effective in their best period of the game.

Bottom line, the guy has no goal threat whatsoever and is probably best coming on as sub.

That Danish left back that United signed is class.

The expectation on loans is an interesting one.

Moyes v1 had a lot of very ordinary loans - squad filler that didn't play much - so I never really questioned it much.

Yet we are being very critical of Harrison and Lindstrom who have played quite a bit - I'd say that is a relative success.

I guess it comes down to the cost of those loans - but if they were amazing then they probably wouldn't be available for loan anyway.

He wouldn't start for any other side in the division. We want to improve. The only outcome is that he goes back to Napoli and does not return to Everton. Same with Harrison and Leeds. Thanks for the efforts, and good luck with your futures. The days of Everton wasting tens of millions on proven sub-standard players need to be over.

Was that at Sporting’s ground? What was the atmosphere like.

True to a point but I think it's more down to circumstances and style of play.

Harrisons output at Leeds for example in the premiership eclipses most of the wingers we've had for years - 21 goals & 16 assists over 3 seasons. Iwobi for the 4 seasons for us was nowhere near that. Leeds had to offload due to finances.

So when you put that together, it seemed like we got an absolute bargain. It's not panned out here for him...but could elsewhere.

Rashford and Asensio are both out on loan for example. Both quality players. Both on stupid wages the parent clubs want rid of.

So the loan market can work.

Moyes v1 didn't have the money so had to use the market wisely.

What hurts him the most is he has been the anti finisher in front of goal. So far he has been where finishing goes to die. If he can fix that in the short time left, maybe he has a shot. Moyes made the point that he needs more goal output from the wings. He has been unfortunate not to assist more, but he needs to be more clinical in the final 3rd. He would have to justify his price tag.

Like a lot of Leeds players Bielsa had them coached within an inch of their lives. Kalvin Phillips was Englands player of the year with him. Once that coaching left and they went to the likes of Jesse Marsch or Dyche they reverted to the players they actually were.

If we do sign this lad permanently it will show sadly the club haven’t learnt anything from past mistakes…as he is imho clearly not good enough for the Premier League…with zero goals and one “assist” and at a reported 20 mil we would be beyond foolish to even contemplate signing him!

Personally… I have nothing against this lad and he does seem to try hard in most games I’ve seen him play in but you shouldn’t spend 20 million quid on a hard worker with little to no end product… we should be looking for much more value for money than this guy offers currently.

If we have any aspirations of becoming a top side again we will need players who are much more equipped to play at this level and offer much more end product than this lad does for his current asking price!

The Kalvin Philips one is mad isn't it.
