Why the hell would we be happy with a 29 year old Jesse Lingard on over £100k a week? I don’t care if he’s marginally better than some of our other players tbh.

You assume he would be on that though. And if he is, then that is probably about par.
Why would we be happy with that ?. Well that midfield that played last season, best player was Iwobi as it turned out, the lad is 29 ,English international very recently made the England team, he scores goals and creates, He's free and our transfer funds can be used to get a striker ,which is the area imo we should be spending money on.

We’ve not agreed to any wages yet.

That said though the lack of a transfer fee changes the dynamics of any deal. 100k over 2 years with no transfer fee is an approx 10 mill outlay. We’d have to be paying absolute buttons in wages to get under that for a player after paying any sort of transfer fee for them

I think it's an example of where we've gone wrong in the past, even though I don't think he's a bad player.
