Transfer Rumour Jesse Lingard

Forest have gone bust before and dont appear to have learned much.

If those wages are true then thats madness. What will the rest of the squad think compared to their wages?

Only a one year contract so a strange deal from his perspective too - approaching 30 wouldn't he be better to lock in even a slightly smaller wage for 3+ years? Unless he's just planning to see out his career on one year deals and signing on fees.

Whatever we might think about the wages the truth is Lingard would strengthen the Everton side at the moment but instead will be strengthening Forest, a potential relegation rival....

Why not find somebody who can strengthen the squad who won’t be blowing the wage structure out of the water?
Absolutely - but the reality is still that he's a pretty good player who will strengthen the club he goes to - he may well get 10-15 goals in the season plus some assists

We need to do what we can to stay up...

He's not coming with a transfer fee so that should be considered in total outlay

The likelihood is the Forest fans will get behind him and treat him as a hero - he probably knows if he comes to Everton he'll be sucked into the world of fan negativity and endless over the top criticism....

It’s £10m for one season. It’s not bad for Forest at all.

Admittedly when he was released from United I wouldn't have minded us signing him as I think we'd need a player like him but I think in the end we've definitely dodged a bullet given the offers he was entertaining and ultimately the one he went with. I don't see the logic in signing for a year anywhere at his age, could've probably easily signed for us or West Ham, gotten more money, played in a better team and would've had a far more secure future rather than relying on a newly promoted side paying you out the nose for a year and then trying to impress enough as a 30+ year old that another club would be willing to pick you up from them after the contract did like United did with Eriksen. Moronic decision from him but that seems to be on brand with how he seems to be.

He couldn't be bothered being in a relegation battle

Forest have sold spence and clearly have some sort of plan on recruitment

We just have billy whizz on auto dial ringing around whilst Thelwell thumbs through the who's who of desperate footballers

Bank £10m for a years work, then go to MLS/Saudi for a retirement payday. Nice work if you can get it.

Not sure why people are rejoicing. We can’t pay him the wage but he’s gone to a team who we’ll be battling against. Objectively he’s better than: Gray, Townsend, Dele, Iwobi, arguably Gordon (at this moment in time)….so every one of our supporting forwards.

Guarantee he scores, assists, creates more than any one of that lot probably put together - possible exception of Gordon. That attacking line we have is utter, utter shocking and promoted teams are getting ahead of us.
