I like Robles, barring the mistake against Sunderland, I cant remember any of his little errors leading to anything?? may be wrong like. In certain situations in a game, I feel a lot more comfortable with Robles in goal than with Howard.

i think we have to take into account 23 is very young for a keeper and they can play on until their 40's so he does have a bright future ahead of him. he looks a little flappy at time which seems to be custom for any spanish keeper, but he is commanding, loud and comes for crosses which is something howard has never done in his career. he was also very alert for their free-kick, noticing the danger straight away and made a good stop.

Cant complain about his performance at all, maybe his distribution, but ill put that down to the pitch ;)
His closing down and making himself as big as possible was really something i liked yesterday, throwing himself into a few scrambles knowing he could get hurt, well in Joel lad.
To be fair, so would I. It's a bit better for himself that he didn't go out to dribble and lost it cuz the ball bounced off or something.

Other than that - very much improved after the last time.

He's around 23 i think

Yep 24 in June.

He's only played 39 competitive games in his career, so we need to be patient with him. He's certainly got the attributes to become a top keeper.

Unlike outfield players, we need to remember that the peak playing age of a goalkeeper is skewed towards the early thirties, so to have him at this level at the age of 23 is a great start.

I think a fair play to Howard needs to be said here - hes been one of the best most consistent this season defo in the top five in the Prem for me.

Credit Robles with providing realistc compitition, i rate Joel as a good prospect who lets not forget has an Fa cup winners medal under his belt.

In fact we talk about the Wigan players making a step up to a big club mentality, i think they have brought something to the mentality of the squad a belief in their endevours at Wigan and the FA Cup win that anything is possible evident in games Vs Chelsea, Utd and Arsenal.

Robles and Howard could be both starters, to be fair. It's great competition for them both with what they've got going, if that makes sense.

Did really well here:
