Joel Robles

I did agree with you , it's his knockers a clean sheet three very good saves, easily better than Stek even with his third clean sheet they then blame his kicking ?
If we have the funds then yes buy a keeper if not Joel is a better option than the Stek!

The kicking thing is utterly bizarre.

He will shank one every once in a while. Every goalkeeper does, every player does come to think of it. Generally though his kicking is really good, gets loads of distance and seems to actually aim them as opposed to just hoofing it.

Howard kept a few clean sheets in his day as well, even when he was crap

He let two go past him against Hull btw, the team bottom of the table

He played well against Leicester, was bang average against Hull and made a number of mistakes yesterday that thankfully weren't punished

Barely any better than Jan Mucha, and Mucha at least had better distribution

He didnt. Its a myth.

he sliced one kick other than that he seems to hit great diagonal balls out with distance and accuracy as KMs goal v Leicester - he should have replace Howard and we would know by now if he was good enough the jury's still out until he gets a run in successive games another clean sheet with 3 very good saves!
he commands his are better than stek too and dives too!

Mucha definitely had better distribution mate

Watch that run he had in the team in 12/13 when Howard did his back in

Along with that spectacular performance against City, his general distribution was the best we'd seen in years, Howard was a better shot stopper and all around goalkeeper, but Mucha's distribution was very good indeed. It was the one thing he did really well

Robles isn't even close in that regards, even though he's a better shot stopper

The kick that he sliced was caused by a shocking ball back to him from coleman. He hit it much two hard and was causing the ball to bobble everywhere and Joel had to kick it first time because he was under pressure. He told him so immediately afterwards too.

For a young keeper I think he's pretty decent, and a bit more calmness will come with age.

The fact that we are talking about his distribution , means the rest of his game must be pretty solid right now.

It's something that can be used to evidence that he isn't good enough to be a regular #1 at premier league level

If we're going to be a challenge to the top clubs then we need more than a basic shot stopper, or at least an awesome back four to make up for his short comings

Neither he or Stek are the answer IMO

His distribution doesn't just need work either, it's downright awful and is most certainly a need for concern

The thing with Joel is, that there always seems to be a much calmer feeling when he's playing. Whether that's down to him or not I don't know. But when he plays the crowd seem calmer and the defence seem to be happier. We also keep more clean sheets. I think he deserves a prolonged run.

He's only made 51 senior career appearances. in comparison Barkley has made 170. I think Robles has got great attributes and his improvement from when he 1st came is massive ! he can continue improving as he has done ! he'll be a great goalkeeper ! hes been at top division clubs all his career and hasnt fully learnt his trade yet or had enough experience. its not like hes costing us every game ! I say give him time !

Needs to learn how to catch a ball
Better tha Stek as he needs to learn how to dive if the ball is directed more than two feet away from him, he us very static fast actions if the ball is at him watches the ball hit the corner of the net sometimes very static
Robles is far more agile and controls his box defence looks happier with him there!
