Player Valuation: £35m
Joey's not a happy boy:

"There is no way Reading have spent more than us and no way Everton have either, but they seem to have overachieved," he added.

"Bolton have not spent big either. I know they paid a lot of money for Nicolas Anelka but we paid a lot for Georgios Samaras.

"You have to face facts. We have not brought quality in. One or two have done all right but not enough to take the team onto the next level.

"We can't gamble on players who have scored six goals in six games in the Pontins League or in Belgium.

"I know a lot of the supporters are umming and ahhing about whether to buy their season tickets.

"They go out and work hard. It is a lot of money to buy a season ticket at our place and they are not getting value for money."

I don't think it is a question of who spends most wins (normally, Chelsea excluded), if that were the case we would be in City's position, and the barcodes would have come in second after Chelsea.

I think it all comes down to what you do with your money, and Moyes has a shrewd eye for talent, and the ability to get the best from your players, as does Coppell, but unfortunately Pearce doesn't.

And remember a year ago people were harping on about Pearce taking the England job!!! I respect the guy, he is one of the few honest managers left, but he is right where his talents represent at the moment (not to say he won't grow as a manager)

I thought the interesting aspect of this, from our point of view, was the veiled "come and get me" to European-qualified clubs.

It was more like a 'I hate half of you lot n this dressing room' I'm sure his manager is wondering where the bloody hell his brains are, big mouth small brain as simple as that. If he was your 'team mate' you'd smack him good style just for his arrogance.

No, not just you - I couldn't stand to see him in our team, but he seemed to be signalling "unhappiness" and I know a few others are always after any "boyhood blues".

Is it just me, or dont you ever want him to pull on an Everton shirt with an attitude like that. Get over yourself you gobshite.

Spot on !!!

He may be a good player but all it would take would be a poor run of results before he starts spouting off causing unrest in the squad.

Actually, Pearce comes across to me as a no nonsense kind of guy and wouldn't tolerate this kind of talk. Perhaps I'm wrong.

I think there's another dimension to this conversation. Why do teams like Newcastle, Man. City and Spurs always under-achieve no matter how much they spend? You could even ask the same about Chelsea - based on how much they have spent, they should have already won the Champs' League and be 10 points ahead of Man U.

Meanwhile based on our finances and squad in the late nineties, we should have been relegated for sure. I think there are some intangible aspects to a club that somehow have a huge impact on how that club fares over the course of a season. Man. City just seem to me to have a history of being also-rans (just as the Barcodes and Spurs have the under-achiever tradition). Perhaps it's in the minds of the fans, and trickles down into the players' mentality.

Whatever, I've never had any dislike for City, and I respect Pearce as one of a very few honest managers who accept responsibility for their losses. But if I was an ambitious player, that's not where I'd want to be.

(Still think Barton's attitude sucks, though.)

His attitude, as highlighted by this, is disgraceful. Would have stood by the blues in our times of need, like Cahill and such great ambassadors did? No! He'd be gone in a flash, the greedy [Poor language removed].
Anyone who wants him in a blue shirt is deranged.
