Joey "Cigar" Barton is not happy...

And if Stuart Pearce's nerve has now broken after cigars, beating up Everton fans, slagging off teammates in public and the latest, I hope he never sets foot in Goodison except as a paying fan...

conversley (?) a player the likes of barton would focus the referee on someone other than cahill.

the type of [Poor language removed] that could put a two footer on gerrard shouldnt be sniffed at

a [Poor language removed]? yes. but wasnt roy keane the exact same.

Also, its not like VDM hasnt been dragging the club through the mud in recent months, drink, drugs, pregnant table dancers, cars, pedigree dogs, hair cuts.

every prem team set of fans hate cahill except us, every prem teams fans hate barton except citys.

if he does sign, put money on him going to hospitals to visit sick kids before he does any training.

I think the guy just needs to mellow out. Keane was hardcore but you wouldnt hear of him bashing someone at training or losing it mentally off the field. If he could put all that aggression into a game and be a good man off it, Id welcome him, but in his present mind set, i think he's too destructive for the dressing room. Id swap him for Neville though, if he gets a handle on the 'tude.

keane went on a bender on an ireland training camp. mcarthy confronted him... it went something like

mccarthy : 'we have been waiting for you'
keane : 'i didnt ask for you to wait'
mccarthy : 'what kind of attitude do you call that?'
keane : 'do you call what you have a first touch'

all in front of the rest of the ireland squad.

character, could have been worse, could of been the likes of stan collymore or diouf, or cisse.

Err, no. Roy Keane is/was hard. Joey Barton is a spoilt brat who thinks (with good reason so far) that he can get away with anything. One of these days he will meet up with someone who doesn't care about the consequences of sorting him out, rather than Liverpool taxi drivers, teenage autograph hunters and youth team members.

"It is Barton's cowardice that upsets me most," said Dabo. "What I find most shocking is that he struck me first from behind and then repeatedly when I was down on the ground. He is a coward and his actions are despicable."

quotes the Guardian, in a story headlined "Badly beaten Dabo set to take Barton to court"

Unfortunately, the story then goes on to say:

Everton are among those monitoring the situation and are aware that the 24-year-old Liverpudlian has a £5.5m buy-out clause in his contract. He was once a season-ticket holder at Goodison Park and a member of their youth academy.

Attn. Bill Kenwright

Hi Bill

Since it seems that everyone, including the Daily Post who appear to be
EFC's house paper, are saying that we are interested in Joey Barton, I would
just like to register my horror at the thought of him playing for Everton.

I have been a Toffee all my life and will continue to my grave, but he
represents everything that I believe this club should not be about. To be
honest, I do not care if he is the last bit of the jigsaw that we need to
compete in Europe, or if he is a cut-price England player - I would rather
take the club without him than with him.

The only way that he should be at Goodison is as a season-ticket holder. I
hope this mail is only one of many from other horrified fans.

Just sent.

paper talk, dabo was never going to say he went flying into a nasty tackle that started the confrontation off, and he sure as [Poor language removed] was never going to admit to throwingthe first punch.

mr barton has painted himself into a corner with the city squad by criticising the foreign signings and suggesting they are a bunch of wasters.

it makes sense to city to expel one player than try to push the majority of the foreigners back abroad.

i cant see barton getting lippy round stubbs btw.

...that and Cars stating a few years ago that Everton doesn't have room for any "big time Charlies."

I could see him sorting out Barton if any problems came to the front.

Hopefully, he'll never wear an Everton shirt.

i'd have barton over osman in the middle 9 days out of 10.

I origionally though getting Barton would be bad, then i thought it would be good, and after the beating up incedent bad again...but now with rumours saying weve already signed him i think it would be a good signing...

...first it strengthens up the squad for europe, allowing more subs instead of drafting in beattie or naysmith. It also allows our bigger players to rest for some matches...

...also as you say, I'd prefer to play Barton over Osman, Osman had his only good game of teh season yesterday, even though he has scored in others...hes bin [Poor language removed].

...Only bad thing is is the attitude, but...after the incident, and moving to a favoured club, would he still act in the same way? well anyway....my main point is...who would you prefer to play (in terms of WINNING) Osman or Barton?
