John Stones transfer saga

I hope that somehow we can keep hold of Stones, not just for now, but for many years to come and see Everton return to the pinnacle of English football. I say this with a view to future generations of fans. My father has sadly found out that his cancer is inncurrable, having spread beyond it's initial diagnosis. Beyond my generation nobody in my family supports Everton. The lack of success and my siblings marrying into families of United fans makes it increasingly difficult.

When we are long gone Everton will still remain, I just hope she gets the treatment deserved rather than being ridiculed by the likes of Jason Cundy and other no mark mouthpieces of the media.

Heartbroken.
Sad news. I wish you all well.

3 players has he at Chelsea ? Why's he not bringing through any of the 500,000 U21 players yous have got out on loan ?
Well, he's developed Oscar, Azpilicueta & Hazard into top players. He brought Courtois back from loan & binned Cech in favour of him. Zouma got alot of gametime last season for a 20 year old & started ahead of Cahill in our last game.

Our much heralded youth isn't all that special to play for a club with World Class players apart from 2/3 players. Namely Musonda, Loftus-Cheek & maybe Boga. 1 is already getting decent gametime, lets see how he develops the other two.

This notion Mourinho doesn't play young players is a bit silly & childish. If they're good enough, they play. The ones that need 2/3 seasons are rightfully sent out on loan.

Yup. ..and I'm looking forward to a large humble pie to tuck into.

Fingers crossed.

As things stand mate it will be a small weight watchers piece of lemon drizzle.

We massively need a centre back ( hopefully Mori will be confirmed tomorrow ), playmaker and a back up striker. Absolutely imperative these signings are in and it isn't just thrown together at 5.55pm on Tuesday.

Your manager is an absolute beaut.

Yours sincerely

Sorry like but you haven't got loads of World Class players I'd even go as far as saying Hazard is the only one yous have maybe the keeper too apart from that ... Nar

Lets not go and trumped the heralds saying this is a great decision. "HEY you know how we loaned you out? Well we're going to KEEP you this year. WHOA, i KNOW! Who knew that we could do such a thing!".

When your keeper out on loan is better than your starting keeper, making a point that bigs it up is a bit... excessive.

He has improved me young players. In fairness none of the 3 examples you gave were no marks when they joined though were they?

I think the criticism that Chelsea, who have won the youth cup or be finalists over a number of years haven't really seen that lead to regular starters for the team. Likewise there are ethical issues about Chelsea buying up lots of young players, sending them out on loan to them sell them at a profit. It works well for Chelsea, but there are ethical issues.

We'll see if the likes of Loftus Cheek or Boga get game time, I have my doubts.

Stones is a very good central defender. He has potential to be one of the best we've had in this country. He can do things very few centre half can. I saw him put RVP in his back pocket as a teenager, and dribble past him with a Cruyff turn. However he still makes mistakes. Martinez is happy to embrace players mistakes, encourage them even as long as they keep doing the right thing, and it's part of their development. Mourinho is very different in his approach. As you said "if they're good enough, they play".

At present I doubt Stones is good enough to be the no mistakes type of centre half Mourinho wants. It's a very strange signing really. If I were Stones I'd be worried I'd make a couple of mistakes, be told to change my game and not play to my strengths, and end up being sent out here there and everywhere. He wouldn't be the first.

How much can you see Chelsea coming back to bid mate? I suspect it may require close to 50 million to get him.

I just want to go and give Stones a big hug, and tell him it will be alright.

He's 21, and has been the subject of one of the most relentless and intense media saga's I can ever remember.

Yes I reckon eventually he probably does want to go to a title challenging, trophy winning team, and if we can't get close to that ambition then I have no problems with him going.

I think he's been badly advised by his agent, and Chelsea have played some very dirty tactics to distract and confuse him.

He's just a young lad who has had the weight of the world on his shoulders all summer, and it's finally taken it's toll and he's cracked under the pressure.

Just my opinion of course.
You make it sound like he will be dragged kicking and screaming from goodison, has no say in the matter , he's only 12 yrs old and can't make a decision for himself.... bottom line is he has thought long and hard about it ... He wants to play for chelsea and not everton

was there any more to that 'Stones was crying in a rest stop toilet stall' from last night or has that generally gone by the wayside?

Don't know if that's true , but just saw a video of an Everton fan viciously abusing John Stone how can that help?
Don't know if Stones will stay ,this is still to run. But at the moment proud of Roberto Martinez and Bill Kenwright for their stance.
