It's not the airhead pundits that irk me so much - they can only validate their continued 'celebration' in life after playing football by promoting themselves as pseudo-intellectuals... they need their ramblings to stay relevant and will conveniently forgot whatever stance they took up once the window has closed.
I actually prefer it that Danny Murphy chat's guff and no-one alerts him to how crap his shirts are... let the kopites stew in their own self-created, warped realities.
It's more Sky's agenda that bothers me - they appoint some of the aforementioned airheads, and it's as though they feel they have a stake in the Premier League - cos they were there at its birth, and ensured its safe delivery. But rather than rock the boat by promoting the league to, yes, open up to be more competitive, it is in their interests to keep things as they are - to pander to the biggest swathe of their viewership, the bandwagon blurts of the so-called 'big four' (or whoever we are including these days). It is their collective dummies which must be dusted off and picked up.
Our previous 80's dominance was before their involvement and hence they have no interest in that narrative whatsoever... over the course of their tenure we have merely been cast (more or less accurately) as the paupers, the fodder, and in more recent times - more respectable but still unable to match the titans. They only deal in these embarrassing caricatures... and we just 'tore up the script' - to allude to one of their BS, Hollywood-style commentary soundbites.
I will enjoy watching the ensuing malfunctioning of Ex-RS/Chelski pundits in the coming days.

I wouldn't count chickens and all that. my estimate was that there was about £10 million max and a chunk of that is already spent. the Mori one is dependant on a WP that is far from certain
Rodriguez is more likely but still far from certain and at £500k hardly a statement of intent
Brilliant. Totally owned both presenters there. Well in Ped.

How many players from the Chelsea academy have gone on to play for England over the past twenty years?
John Terry? Was he a young boy at the club?
I can't think of any others though I may be wrong.
In that time we have had David Unsworth, Francis Jeffers, Wayne Rooney, Leon Osman, Jack Rodwell and Ross Barkley that I can think off who graduated to Engkand honours from the Everton academy.
How many uncapped English players gave they bought who went on to play for England?
I can't think of any.....I think Lampard, Cole and Oarker were already capped.
Ashley Cole certainly was.
Glen Johnson possibly?
Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines, Joleon Lescott and John Stones made the step up here.
So much fipr there Berks thinking playing for Chelsea is good for England.
I said if we had no Stones cash we didn't have a transfer war chest.
Still to see evidence that isn't true. 'Bids' for decent players like Yarmolenko? Great. Not adding to our squad in a hurry though is it?
Still, I won't be churlish: 'well done Bill, thanks for not selling any of our own players yet'.
Didnt know that, i bet half those sharing it on Facebook trying to make Everton fans look bad havent pointed out we were 2 down at the time.
The guy filming it and putting it out there is just as bad, he had to know this would go viral, terrible from them both.
????Hook, line and sinker.
