John Stones transfer saga

my concern right now is how many fans see mot selling stones as a achievement and something to shout about.

We said no, that's the end of the matter. I'm more concerned about the clear lack of funds we have and the fact we have only signed 2 first team players and one of them is apparently seriously injured 4 games in.

I still think a lot of this summers funding was reliant on Stones being sold, and in this current market of crazy TV deals a spend of £4.5m is terrible.

this was my point a week or two ago. We say we aren't a selling club yet refuse to sell and then have no money to spend. its cutting our nose off to spite our face. We keep stones and spend some money buying actual targets then fair enough, the club is sending a message.

right now we are going to look foolish, especially if we have a half season like last year.

I mentioned this last week when the Echo were spinning the line of "Evertons greatest achievement will be to keep Stones" in order to deflect attention away from our pathetic recruitment drive this summer.

48 hours to go to see if we "go with what we've got"

They will role out we have kept our top players and improved the squad with players who no one knows how their career will pan out.

I think Jagielka is a decent centre back. He doesn't have the organisational skills to be it's leader though. He' should be the one taking instruction and Stones doesn't have the gravitas for that. The blend just isn't right. This window I'd hoped we could have got in a more dominant personality in at CB.
lol Seriously?

Jags marshaled Lescott for years, same as he covers for Stones now. He might not be the most vocal team captain but he generally does a fine job of marshalling his central defensive partner.

I dont think the Stones situation is over by a long chalk,I still see him going to Chelsea on Monday. As it stands Mourinho has threw him under a bus he said he wouldnt make another bid until Stones hands in a transfer request which he has now done Mourinho isnt going to leave it there.
We will sell him on Tuesday with no time to spend the money.
Feel free to come back at 6.01 pm on Tuesday and admit that you were completely wrong

We need players in mate and sharpish. If 2-3 more aren't brought in ( and I'm talking about players who are 1st team ready ) then it's been an absolute shambles from start to finish.

All this money floating about yet us as fans are told that this is just the "Everton way". Well I could understand years ago when we were scraping pennies together to get loans for the likes of Straq and Ricky Royston but it's just not acceptable now imo.

I've said it loads of times in the past: he has a period in every season when he goes walkabout and the whole defence is in disarray...the worst thing is that I dont think we've even seen that happen yet. The worst is to come!
I agree though as long as its after end of October and the hard games, and IF deulofeu and mirallas hit fitness and form at least it'll be in games where we can score more than the odd mistake costs us. Big if on those two though, as they are our only creative outlets up the pitch.

They could do with some central midfield protection, Barry is too slow now for professional football, but if he heads the ball once in a game that's seen as intelligent play that vindicates his selection. McCarthy needs to up his game but thinks he's being dragged down playing next to Barry.

This is why I'm so gutted with cleverley's injury. I don't think it would've been long til he took over from Barry but now it'll be next season or at least too late this

It is an achievement, sticking to our guns in the money mad modern game. I do fear it will be for naught though if we fail to add to the squad.

Wouldn't yet as he might refused it and will be on the back of every page but it would be nice before the next window but I still believe stones will want out. Best outcome for us is José leaves Chelsea beofore jan

That is a distinct possibility.

One way or another I don't think he will be at the Bridge for the start of next season.
