The sooner people accept that he won't be playing for Everton in 2/3 years time the easier this will be
I think we are all comfortable with that. But that's then. This is now.

I think my main worry is that when Chelsea want a player they do generally get them.
Just hope it's Sky talking trumpet again.
Mourinho has a gripe about the price of English players so hopefully 20m is his estimate and won't go much above.
We're not a bloody Championship team. If he leaves he leaves. The stick he would get from the fans would be too much. He won't be loaned back.
We're in no position were we need to sell this summer.
However realistically 35m is a lot for a defender. He would have to reach almost his full potential to be worth 50m and that means be playing for a CL team, winning trophies and prove he's able to cope at the very highest level to be worth that. So he won't go up much more in value than 35 while he's with us.
If that was offered then we would have to weigh the risk of losing him for this season to the potential risk of him decreasing in value by next year because he won't go up. Look at Barkley, last year we were talking 50m somewhere in Sterling's bracket and now we would be lucky to get 25m.
Just like I'm glad Barkley went nowhere. I hope Stones stays too. I think both will kick on and will be top class, possibly world class and while it's unlikely if they all do that at once we might fluke our way into the champions league before they get poached.
Do you mean the same billionaires using Man City as a plaything who were strongly linked with a move for Everton? We were indeed once giants of the game.
Then billionaires purchased other clubs, investing ludicrous amounts of money and through this process displaced the old guard with the new.
This is how things are now. We have to exist and achieve the best that we can - if that entails paying £3m for a lad from the lower divisions to turn him around on a 1000% profit in a few seasons, then that's how it has to be. How else are the club going to raise capital to invest?
The board are guilty of many things, the stadium is and always will be the single issue preventing one of said billionaires coming in to buy Everton. That said; they are few and far between and we're one of a number of options should someone be looking for a plaything on which to squander their ill-gotten gains.
What are you accusing the board of here, other than not being as rich as the owners of other clubs?
No no no no no no no no no
probably yeah, but where is chelsea bid for him?Jags would win it playing in that defence with that keeper behind him and Matic in front. Alcaraz could probably even slot in and look good.
probably yeah, but where is chelsea bid for him?
How much did Ferdinand go to Utd for? 29.1m? And that was about 15 years ago. Stones is as good, if not better, than he was then. £40m would be a starting point. I still wouldn't want to sell as he's only going to improve
Didn't Man City get Sterling for 49m not 50mOur neighbours have shown us recently how best to deal with bids of this nature. Set a price and stick to it or else tell the club the player is not for sale at any price.
I would suggest that we tell Chelsea the price is 50m and if they match that they can have the player, everything else is rejected out of hand.
20m is a test the water bid , will Everton be even vaguely tempted ? , will the player have an interest ? are there other suitors who need to be flushed out ?
I think we all have. It's this season we're worried about. The sooner people accept that he won't be playing for Everton in 2/3 years time the easier this will be
