John Stones transfer saga

They got Cahill for £8m, we rejected an Arsenal bid around the same time for £15m for Jags.
ahh but they bought cahill when he was going to be free otherwise.

Im sure chelsea would have been in for international jags if he was so much better than cahill.

I like jags, think he is a great but limited defender. owuldnt swap him for anyone else personally, but he has his weaknesses

Yeah. Good thought. If he wants a good young defender I reckon he could get Varane for less than we'd sell Stones.
He needs English players whether he likes it or not. That's the best thing about that rule. It gives English clubs an incentive to develop homegrown players because when they're sold they go for much more money.

What would be your thoughts if stones asked for 60/70k a week to sign a 5 year deal and gave EFC his word that he'd stay for at least 3 years if you wanted him to ?

Do you mean the same billionaires using Man City as a plaything who were strongly linked with a move for Everton?

I want progress, not stagnation. We have a man in charge who will not listen, who bans AGMs because he doesn't like the questions being asked of him, who sacks a CEO 6 weeks into a job because he doesn't like the advice the CEO gives, who wouldn't give up his share to allow Paul Gregg to move us into the King's Dock Stadium.

There is absolutely zero room for defence of this board. They are the reason we are where we are. Continued under investment and continuous lies.

Utter speculation. Still my argument is sound, they chose Man City due to the development opportunities allowed to them around the stadium. Not because they were Man City; one of the historic old guard of English football.

Where are the buyers? I'm not seeing every other club being snapped up by these mystery billionaires. You want the board to just walk away?
You clearly have issues - however as with every anti-board protester repeating the same rhetoric ad-infinitum - What are the options? Where is your advice? There's no solution, just anger.

We are where we are because the business of football has changed and we are on the outside looking in these days.

Jags is brilliant but 1. Cahill is better and 2. Cahill needs Terry. Neither Cahill or Jags are really good enough for a team challenging at the very top of the champions league.

We're not Stones' bitch, I'd rather we just started winning something here and there and making players genuinely want to stay.

To be fair Stones and Coleman were interviewed yesterday saying they're really excited to build for the future and want to win trophies with us. He's happy here, we just need to show some ambition over the next 2 years.

This is the strongest Everton squad we have seen in many a long year, it is no surprise some of the players are wanted by other teams.. Everton are in a strong position with Stones. If he goes it will be at least for 30mil. Take away 7mill for possibly Evans and we have a quality centre back at a perfect age to fill the position for years to come. This leaves a serious fund to seriously strengthen in the futue. personally I think John will stay loyal to Everton, I hope he does...

Evans coming in for Stones.

In fairness the business of football has always been about money. Everton were the best club in the 60s due to money.

The difference today is you need to be a billionaire not a millionaire.

Gareth Barry told me a few weeks ago the squad knew that Stones and Macarthy were going to be chased this summer. My big concern is i can't think of one player Chelsea have aggressively pursued an missed out on.
