John Stones transfer saga

35m and I hope he goes tbh. We don't have any money and if he doesn't go we go into the season with Kone as our second choice striker and players like Naismith and McGeady getting 20 starts this season. That's the sad reality of it.

If he goes for 35m we get a new striker, we sign a quality replacement for Stones plus at least one other real quality player plus more quality than the above-mentioned waste of spaces, meaning they get very little game time this season.

That's life under the Kenwrong Regime.

35m and we have to accept really as it's the only way we can improve as a team.
It is the sad reality of the state of the club at the moment. We can't carry on doing this though, yes everybody has their price but if we want to start winning things we need to keep hold of our best players ala Baines. Something has to change in the cycle we are in and have been in for the last 10-15 years.

It would be lot of money but it wouldn't all be put back into the squad. He would have to go and try to get 2 decent center backs outta it. And his number 10. He has stated couple times he has no interest in another lad up front and he keeps bigging up his wonder kone.
Yeah but with Chelsea riches thrust upon him he'd soon change his tune.

Have to imagine if it's sorted within the next 2/3 weeks with Stones then he'd have enough time to get the likes of Kone, McGeady, Hibbert, Gibson off the books and thus having four new players on decent wages wouldn't be as much of a problem as it would be now.

35m would leave say 30m left over, and you really have to imagine Martinez would only agree to the deal if he gets all the money minus Barnsley's fee.

Stones replacement 7/8m, backup CB then either on loan which would be preferable or 3/4m for somebody perhaps from the Championship/abroad, a number 10 for a nice round 10m which leaves 10m for a decent striker, which gets you a lot if you shop in the right market.

That'd be Stones out, 2 CBs in, a quality midfielder and a quality striker, and no real difference to the wage bill if we could find takers for the above four players.

He won't sell mc Geady as peanuts is a walking hospital. He won't sell kone as he has really being praising him lately. Hibbo is his back up for right back. He won't play him unless totally necessary but he is a cheap back up. Could see Gibson being moved on alright. Who would take him though. The poor lad is putting health insurance companies outta business

Additionally, if Stones leaving means three quality players coming in, I'd be confident going into the season with a team built around this:

Quality new player 1
Quality new player 2
Quality new player 3
Coleman
Baines
McCarthy
Barkley
Mirallas
Deulofeu
Lukaku

That's 10 players I'd be really, really happy with, plus the likes of Oviedo, Cleverley, Besic, Barry pushing for a start, and Osman from the bench, Naismith to rough the opposition up from the bench.

Looking at that, we could also do with a loan-to-buy deal or two for some players to push for a start.

With the way premier league clubs have been throwing money around, we won't sign 3 quality players for 35 million imo (we probably won't even get it all up front). Every club will know we have money to spend so their prices will increase, especially when it comes to signing a new centre back. Clubs can absolutely gouge us because they know we'll be <12 days away from our first fixture of the season with only 1 senior centre back.

I'm also not sure I agree with your assessment of our financial situation. We get more TV revenue than Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid. I know that we're badly mismanaged, but even Kenwright can't piss away that much money without someone noticing. You and I are both just speculating though, so time will tell.

lol at "Quality new player x".

They might end up being cack.

The new look Liverpool Echo sent it,s reporter to the chairman,s house to get answers on the sale of John Stones, we were shown into a new home extension which had yet to be finished covered with Wayne Rooney pictures. Sadly the chairman was unable to speak with our reporter as he had been up all night crying into the phone asking for Mr Stones to stay at the club. As we left we were told that next time we visit the extension should be finished well quick to offer better comfort for visiting media.

so you'd be happy with 3 players who's identity you have no idea about ????? This thread just hit a new high Butters lad haha

Well you have to speculate to accumulate, Thomas.

Problem is all the decent 'proven' players will have been snapped up by the time we cave in and sell Stones, leaving the market full of Kones and McGeadys.

Yes, because, regardless of who they are, there's a 99.9% chance they'll be better than the likes of Kone, McGeady, Naismith, Gibson and Hibbert.

LAD.

disappointed with that figure. I was aiming for at least 95%
Tommy. I understand perfectly well that if you have contacts that you cannot disclose them.

However, as I do not know you and the only posters on any site that I have seen ever give reliable information before a transfer were "davidmoyes" and "sheedy" , I am sure you will appreciate why I am sceptical about this.

Time will tell with this one, but can I ask if your contact who knows that the transfer has been agreed has said anything about how it is prosed to spend the money?

Whatever we sell Stones for we won't see the whole fee and other clubs will immediately pocket large chunks of it just for us to replace Stones and get a backup defender in. We could easily spend 10 mill on Van Dijk and 10 mill on Ben Gibson or Michael Keane for example. Add in Barnsley's cut and the money we can't access as it is tied up in add ons. Then add in what part of the fee might disappear to pay for some lawnmowers and how much would we have left for this boss playmaker? Probably not much. We'd also have an inferior defence to boot. There's no way selling Stones makes us stronger in anyway unless Martinez pulled an absolute worldie in the transfer market. Based on his deals so far you'd have to doubt that. You'd also have to question why if he'd found some gem of a player we haven't gone for him yet. If we need money to make the purchase it's probably an established player already which means they won't be as good as Stones.
