I'm a bit worried that now Chelsea have made their bid public even if we aren't actually going to sell Stones any bid we make for a back up defender will be viewed as a replacement for Stones and we will have to pay over the odds

Instead of listening to the media - listen to what RM stated after the hearts game he has a squad that needs improving with his youth players in the team , and needs an extra centre back which is pure logic after the departure of Distan, and Alcaraz, so we take interest in a Celtic centre back, and the press assume Stones is leaving ??? I hope not , but the only way he will go now is if UNt Arsenal set a HIGH bidding war and we get a 40 to 60 million offer!

Can't see arsene getting involved in an auction meself. If he's gonna make a bid I'd guess it'd most likely be a 'take it or leave it'.

There's absolutely no point in selling him. It makes no sense whatsoever to either us or Stones.

Barring something unexpected, he's only going to get better. He loves it here and he loves Barnsley, so I really can see when and if he does come to leave he'll leave us and Barnsley in the best position possible financially. The more we get for him, the more Barnsley get, and the difference of £1m or so would be huge for them. He'll probably end up leaving in 1 or 2 seasons time whilst on a long contract and will maybe put a transfer request in so that we get the best deal (although that would reflect slightly badly on him, to some people).

Keep him and I really could see a bidding war between the likes of Bayern, Barca and Real at some point. He really is that good.
