John Stones transfer saga

Talksport are really going out of their way to drag this saga on. They really think a club like Everton have no right to have a talented young player such as stones. They did the same with Barkley and Baines.
The only thing you can say in their defence is that there is no other story in town and they have a lot of air time to fill. Divvies of the highest order, wear their lack of intelligence as a badge of honour. I think they are probably on a bonus how many annoyed fans of their current target they get to ring in. It's they only way they can keep in with the in crowd of Rio, Terry and co. What a way to earn a living!!!

@DBurgundy5: Awaits one of are own @NevilleSouthall @bally03 or @reid6peter to give Stones advice not fueled by an effort to disrupt him like others
@NevilleSouthall: @DBurgundy5 got to stay he will only get better by playing and with us he will & we need to build team not buy players who are reserves
@Kirkham81: @NevilleSouthall unfortunately with this board he might not have a choice if they see the £ signs
@NevilleSouthall: @Kirkham81 cannot keep kicking fans in knacker's mate that's what it is to sell him

@StuieHayllor: @NevilleSouthall @Kirkham81 maybe you could teach Howard not to dive out of the way of that round thing coming toward him all the time Nev?
@NevilleSouthall: @StuieHayllor mate I am only human

@DBurgundy5: @NevilleSouthall @Kirkham81 would you entertain a "silly money" bid ? Or just a blanket he isn't for sale from a club standpoint
@NevilleSouthall: @DBurgundy5 no sale mate name me a better young centre back to replace him there isn't one so why sell

i said the same thing - they're like for like in my opinion. people will laugh about blue tinted specs but i've never seen anything like stones in the english league before. he's something special in more ways than one.

as brennan said last week though, there's no guarantee he won't get a horrific injury to ruin his career. imagine that happening after we've turned down a £50m bid. That sort of money buys two or three proper quality first team players.

i know what grouch says, keep the best players to be the best ... but selling for a massive fee to strengthen a few areas can be even more beneficial. he won't go this summer, 90% confident of that.
can't think of more than two Everton players careers ruined by injury in all the time I've watched. Can think of loads of clubs in the last few years who have sold a huge talent that made them tick and wasted the cash. Plus it would not be my money and I want to be watching John stones for the rest of his career in an Everton shirt.

Kevin Ratcliffe believes if Chelsea offer over £30m for John Stones, Everton can't afford to turn it down. Chelsea have already had two bids rejected for the 21-year-old but are expected to return with a third offer before the transfer window closes.

Speaking on Merseyside Sport, former Everton captain Ratcliffe questioned whether the club would be able to keep Stones.

"They couldn't hang on to Wayne Rooney, we couldn't hang on to [Marouane] Fellaini for £28m. So I reckon if anything comes in around the £30m touch, then I don't think Everton can afford to turn it down."

just protecting his legacy as most successful Everton captain. Loved him as a player but his punditry...

Rooney and Fellaini were not similar situations IMO. So Ratcliffe is a bit off here. We had to sell Rooney and Fellaini was pushing at the door. We have been told there is no need to sell Stones.

The key difference imo with Fellaini, along with Maroune's desire to go, was that Martinez didn't seem to particularly want him and had a replacement lined up in McCarthy that suited him much better, was younger and cost less than half the price.

Stones in contrast is a very "Martinez" type player and Roberto clearly wants him to stay.

What a massive divvy Ratcliffe has turned out to be post-Everton!

Great player, legend for the club, but has really sullied his affiliation through his relentlessly negative and unambitious comments about the club.

Is there another club that has won as much as us who has their most decorated captain in club history giving interviews to the media, advocating the sale of one of the club's best & brightest young stars?

Of course Everton can turn down £30m for Stones - as it is very likely he'll be worth at least £10m more than that in 18 months to 2 years time.

It just requires the club to think long term for once in their short term thinking lives.

Don't think he's ever said anything positive towards us after his playing days

Well, 1995 aside, in comparison to his playing days, we've been nowhere near the level we were at then so perhaps his negativity is understandable.

Don't agree with his statement about Stones btw, Fellaini and Rooney deals are not really comparible situations.
