John Stones transfer saga

We've always been a selling club. We've always sold our best players to survive; well certainly in the last 25 years anyhow. We've struggled for as long as i can remember, both on and off the field and we as fans have been severely tested on our patience. We've had nothing to shout about now for well over 20 years.

Only in the last couple of years have we started to build for a brighter future and have some truly superb young players in our line up which if we keep them together, with a few tweaks here and there, we could do some damage and surprise a few teams. I know we've heard this before but its the best squad of players we've had for over two decades. We could be onto something here. We also no longer need to sell to survive, thats the feeling i get and so if the liar and his gimps break up this little thing we've got going on, i can see fume levels that we've not seen before. I don't mean on this forum either.

Everton revenues have risen 60% in the last two years.

WE ARE NOT A POOR CLUB.
I mean how do they think the likes of Palace would be able to buy a 10 million Cabaye but we can't even relay the pitch...

Even Villa can afford to hold off and force teams to meet the release clause for Benteke.

There is no need for this Chicken Little response anymore...

I'm not saying for one minute we have loads of money.

But we did spend £34m last summer and never brought in a single penny. We were legitimately one of the highest non-top 4 spenders last summer.

technically every club outside of Real, Barca, etc are selling clubs. If Pogba leaves Juve are they a selling club?

John Stones has got to be worth more to Everton Football Club over the next (dare i say it)
8 to 10 years than any offer below 50 million would compensate.
The dream is still there though in a dimmer shade than what it was the season we have just had.
El Bob is building a team, so he says, that will take us places, so why sell one of the foundation (forgive the pun) Stones that will hopefully take us towards that dream.
Chelsea.. do one ..... and any other bids too.

Been expecting a bid for at least 1 of our 4 crown jewels so this so it comes as no great surprise. The £20m is an opening gambit in what could become a game of chess until 1st September.

Let's hope it doesn't. If we are going to sell,

1) tell them now that the price is £50m, and be willing to settle for nothing less than £40m including add-ons.

2) get it done before the season starts so that money can be re-invested. The worst thing about the Rooney deal was that on top of him leaving, there was no time for the money to be spent meaning that most of it...disappeared. I'm still laughing at our supposed bid for Riquelme on deadline day 2004 to make it look like the club wanted to spend the transfer fee.

Genuinely can't see all four of Stones, McCarthy, Barkley and Lukaku being with us for the start of the season. :(

Yes but over a three year period it was virtually a zero net spend. Something like a couple of million.

think they will. just have a feeling Stones won't leave until after Euros if he does

net spend isn't everything. besides until Arsenal signed Ozil and Sanchez they were right next to us in the "net spend table"
