John Stones transfer saga

But that doesn't mean the board pushed him to put in a transfer request.

Players and other clubs in football regularly act poorly, you can't just automatically blame Kenwright.

How many times does it have to happen before a pattern is identified though?

Rooney, not for sale. Transfer request late. Sold. Money gradually invested to net spend.

Do the above process, replace the name with Fellaini, Lescott, Rodwell. In the case of Arteta, it wasn't even re-invested, it was banked and confirmed as such by Moyes.

We pull the same trick over and over again, and it's because we're ran as a club who simply will not invest properly in the playing staff and rely on big sales to appease the books.

And that's fine if we were open about that. But we're lied to again and again as being a "big club", a club that is not a "selling club" - but the men in charge clearly view it differently.

I mean read the below and tell me how Martinez - a man who came here and said off the bat he wanted to build us into a Champions League team - hasn't been sold up the river here by Everton being Everton.

Why do people keep saying that?

We've got no defenders.

I would rather have some kid like Browning in the side than a tit who thinks he's outgrown this club after only playing about 50 games for us.

Flog him for 50m by all means, money means absolutely nothing to me because u and I both know how this board play things out and will spin it like we've spent money. This is more to do about principle and stopping cheeky little scruffs thinking they've had their worth of Everton and now it's time to move on.

Kind of immaterial honestly.

Bill may have been the right man to stabilize Everton. He is also clearly not the right man to push us past being stabilized. And it's genuinely worrying where we will be in 10+ years unless we establish some form of revenue that is not based on Sky.

100% agree, we need to move on, BUT he has done his job in stabising us (not what everton fans want) im 24, i havent seen us win a cup other than when i was a baby and didnt know what was going on in life, no one is more infuriated and bored as i am. but i know what he has done and i know what he needs to do, SELL US.

Interesting article in the Times recently saying that we were at a fork in the road. Keep Stones and move to a new stadium we went one way, sell Stones & remain at an unmodified GP, and we would stay as plucky Everton, a failed relic of being one of the "Big Five"

Guess we're finding out which path we've taken.

Ah well, born a blue, will stay a blue

People shouting for the board to go, really need to grab a hold of themselves. They have turned down 23, 26 and 30 million for a player who is only potential. He isn't our best player, and he isn't going to rock the team by leaving. He makes mistakes and we haven't exactly been keeping millions of clean sheets with him in the squad.

Yes we are not rich, but the board have rejected three offers.

We should now reject them and act like Liverpool? Pretend that a player is one of our own, even if he wants to leave for Chelsea? I don't want a player staying around for a year, having to cheer for him - when he's leaving for Chelsea in the Summer of 2016!!!

Massive profit gained, Stones is happy, Everton can buy three players - no problem.

The fact people will now moan that the board are about to sell a player unhappy at the club, is beyond a joke. They can't do anything right. How about we just let Bill sell up, and end up like Pompey in League 2 and going through the door to oblivion?

i remember the 90's, i sat there thru the durge the smith and walkers teams served up.i also remember when bill bought us off Johnston and thinking it was a decent short term fix, but that was then
there's no room for sentimentality in todays game, the board have consistently showed a small club mentality, and if anything its becoming increasingly difficult for the club to shake the image this weakness portrays and that why our better players are constantly linked to other clubs.

its a sad state of affairs culminating in todays events
Agree totally mate

indeed and it won't be as if they hadn't actually asked Stones if he wants to go or not.

this would mean either
Stones said he didn't want to go and he's changed his mind
or
Stones said he was open to a move (or even that he wanted it) and Bill was hoping Chelsea would keep on bidding.

Agree with every word.
