John Stones transfer saga

I must be the only person who isn't surprised or that arsed! I've seen all this crap even before the modern game took it to new heights of horribleness. Really, did anyone think this would go any other way?

Fair point yeah, but think that was over a shorter span of time and a different scenario - especially with the release clause.
But if I remember he refused to go initially when they triggered the release clause, put out the public statement he was staying.....and then went home and thought about it a bit more (possibly with helpful suggestions from City) and then changed his mind.

Stones could have genuinely believed that Chelsea would bid the price that Everton couldn't refuse so not wanted to hand in the transfer request and then as the days ticked by with Chelsea dragging their heels just got fed up and decided to push it along himself.

for me there are a few plausible scenarios, honestly nit sure what the hell has happened behind the scenes - just that all od the are depressing :(

I find it very odd how Stones has played so well despite wanting to leave this whole time.. generally players lose form when they're looking to leave (Sterling, De Gea). It seemed to me that he was certain of staying, progressing and playing well - keeping his head down and playing football like he's done this season so far.

Maybe our loss to Man City showed him how far we are from the likes of them and Chelsea?

I think thats too high for someone who has not even had one full season in the EPL and not played a single CL game. Objectively it should be somewhere between 34 and 36M
Too high ? Not for me...

What does CL have to do with it ? He is quite clearly capable of playing at the very highest level. He has been a regular for a top club for the last 18 months and is an England international.

I actually agree with this to an extent. I'm sad, but he's not a blue and a genuine contender for everything has come in for him. He's in a clear position to replace Terry both and Chelsea and for England.

I don't fault him wanting out, and if he goes I'll not hold it against him.

That said, I wouldn't sell him.
But what professional footballer is loyal anymore
Who is really a blue?

Sorry for derailing your thread lads.

One thing I wil say on the Stones saga, as a Chelsea fan I do want him and think he's a very talented lad but I think the price is way to much. Would you be happier if you got a player in the deal? Say Moses?

I think that's because he's a genuinely nice person and professional, and not an egotistical sociopath like most players are these days. Which also begs the question how much of this is actually his doing.

Moses - you can **** that for a game of soldiers. He is total s...e - couldn't hit a Selhurst Barn Door from 2 yards if you remember Crystanbul.

Not really mate. I know that it's split decision between your fans thinking you're overpaying, and us thinking he's worth more but you'll realise if he does join you that whatever the price it was an absolute steal.

The lad will go on to be one of the best defenders in the world within 2 seasons.
