Stones and Flanagan are the only two players on the reserve list to travel with the 23 for the WC training camp. Roy has reconfirmed that Jones is the only major doubt and that Stones will replace him if he doesn't recover.

What an amazing season for Stones this would be if he goes to the WC...

He's a far better central defender than Jones or Smalling anyway. This world cup's probably just come a year too soon for him to have been pushing to get on the first 11.

It'll be good experience for him to go to the training camp, and hopefully he'll get into the squad for the tournament.

I was on about next season. Distin is knocking on a bit and with Europe and all I'd much prefer Jags and Stones.

Distin makes me nervous on the ball, can't bare it.

I think big Distin and Alcaraz will be good rotational players with the addidtion of more games next season, but Stones, for me has earned his game time.
