love the fact that Rog Bennett of Men In Blazers referred to him as the "true Johnny Football", 'lifting' the title from the collegiate, Heisman winning quarterback, Johnny "Football" Manzel.

I recognise some of these words.

The more I read prices quoted against some of our players the more I think this is what the Journalists use when quoting a figure. Think they decide on which dice to use depending on the Team and Player status etc. I mean...12m for Stones according to them...

This. I think he has to be a starter along side Jags.

Distin has had a super season though, don't you think? He's been our best CB in my opinion. Plus he's a covering defender, I'm not sure Stones can do that role; I see him as more of a Jags-style player.

And before people start saying "But Distin's old" remember that we've said this for years. As long as he keeps playing like a cyborg, we should stop treating him like a disheveled old man.

It's the question of what to do next though mate, Martinez just on everything he has said seems to always be thinking about the next move ahead down the line, given that, will he push stones back to behind both Jags or Distin now he has shown he can play well at this level, and if he doesn't then which one makes way for him? the club captain, England starting centre back and younger player by 4 years or Distin?

Personally think he will actually rotate all 3 a bit to try keep them from burn out or fading through a long season of potentially 60+ games, although swapping around cb's always makes me nervous like, but injury aside i see Distin starting the least amount of games next year of the 3

Exactly, he can rotate. We'll have the Europa league as well. Jags and Distin must be first choice but with the Europa + injuries + rotation he'll get 20-30 games, easy. Both Jags and Stones have proven they can seamlessly slot in next to Distin so that doesn't worry me. The issue would be Jags+Stones which isn't a proven partnership.

In an ideal world we have Browning coming through this season as well showing close to the level of Stones (unlikely though) and we probably do need to add another cb for depth as Alcaraz plainly cannot stay healthy for any period of time and looks way short of the other 3 when he plays

There is no way we would sell him for the 12m that is been reported
yes, I know mate. It is another 'summer silly season' media piece of fiction. Players like Barkley and Stones are Everton's future imo...unless absolutely silly numbers are quoted, they are going nowhere.

Got to agree with this. The basic laws of humanity don't seem to apply to Distin for some strange reason.
