John Stones

I don't think its us being misinterpreted tbh mate, just that OP on that forum is a bad bellend and gets called just as much by most of the Sunderland fans who know Stones and what a top prospect he is. Honestly, if Jones is fit he needs to take one for the lads like on escape to victory where the keeper gets his arm broken so Stallone can get in the squad. Jones needs his hamstring to twang west and let Stones take his rightful place.
Haha top post.
One of them needs to, best centre alve (how Martinez says it in his Latin Scouse) this country has

He is being photographed all suited and booted standing next to Barkley on the steps of the plane taking England to Miami.

Bad examples there pal. Shawcross and Dawson got nothing on Stones. He will be a colossus for England over the next 10 years. A team like Germany would recognise that and throw him in for the tournament exp. I could understand you arguing that Curtis Davis or Caulker could be in there for consistent performances, but would still favour stones getting the nod for the arguments above.

Dawson and Shawcross though...

....ironically, Dawson was in exactly the same situation as Stones in 2010. He was an uncapped player on stand-by. Fortunately for him, Rio Ferdinand got a knock and withdrew at the last minute and Dawson was in.

I'm sure he quite likes you;) So go on.....you can't knock Hodgsons experience internationally, his availability and handling of the media, and his steady integration of younger players into the England set up, so who would you prefer as England Manager at this moment in time ?

Well its impossible to say Steve because the lure of the England job is massive so even though there's a lot of managers who aren't available and in jobs the two managers for me who spring to mind are Klopp and Ancellotti. English they aren't but top quality managers they are. There's not an English manager currently out there good enough to even be considered for the post, nearest one I can think of who I think has done a decent job is Eddie Howe of Bournemouth and he's a million miles away from ever being ready for such a job. So that leaves a foreign manager for me personally. At the end of the day I ain't that fussed as long as the Everton lads are doing well, i am not very patriotic when it comes to supporting England these days, not since Euro 96 and France 98 anyways.

I think we will, from now on, if possible go down the English manager route, and agree there are not many candidates. I would not like to see the FA stick to this if they couldn't find someone up to standard, but aren't sure of any foreign managers who would not be taking the job simply for the money. Its a quandary, but I think Hodgson is the best available at present. He may well resign after the WC anyway, then it would get interesting. Nice talking to you.

I've no doubt your absolutely right Steve, I think they will try and shoe in the likes of Pearce, Southgate and Neville after Roy has served his time. I think in this day and age of players generally having the brain capacity of a 4 year old, they generally need someone to stand out and inspire them on to greater things. Martinez is definitely in this bracket and I think he will prove this in the next season or two. Everything about the man oozes exceptional skill, nouse, positivity and tactical awareness, basically the perfect modern day manager. Not that I want him to manage England, he can do 15 years with us first!!

He had Some pare of john stones on him when we beat Juventus with his pen.

On a side note, off topic, that tournament in America was a very good warm up for the season. Are all the Friendly fixtures out at all?

Remember our first 11 used to be full of internationals from crap countries like Wales, Scotland and Sweden & the USA. Nice to see we've got got young internationals from proper footballing places like England and Rep. of Ireland & the likes.

Makes me feel a lot better about the state of the club.

Totally agreed mate, I thought that tournament was perfect prep with great opposition and would love to see something similar again. I purchased 2 of the 3 live games online and thought they were good value for money.
