Think Everton need to get Stones tied down to a long contract, because I can see the Ginge sniffing again, this lad is going to be some player IMO

Disagree completely. How long do you want his deal to be?

Stones joined us on transfer deadline day in January 2013, penning a five-and-a-half year deal.

So were safe as houses. Hes going nowhere. This is the problem with youngsters these days. becoming millionaires and thinking theyve made it when they havent.

Look at that little 5hite across the park, signed a new deal on 30k a week and the only headlines ive seen him make since are when hes been out on the pi55 assaulting people.

We need Stones to concentrate on his development, playing football and pushing on into our starting 11. Hes 19, hes got years ahead of him and years under contract.

Weve got at least this season and next before we need to panick and give him a crazy contract. Let him be continue to focus as he is doing and his rewards will come.

Heard we're offering him a nine year deal on 40k per week...

Love this from Martinez “In any performance from a youngster I never focus on the mistakes, I value their reaction to the mistakes and their next pass, or next decision,”
This is why Martinez is so good with the youngsters, jumping down anyone's back after one mistake won't do anyone any good especially a youngster.

This will test my memory but remember when we played Blackburn a two seasons ago, it was Barkley's second game, had a pretty poor game and I'm pretty sure he gave away a penalty. We hardly seen him again for the rest of the season going off how we played after that and off reports that really took away his confidence for a while. The best example of Martinez handling a youngster was in the Real Betis game, Barkley gave away the ball several times in really dangerous spots and didn't have his best game. I thought that he wa no hope of starting the Norwich game because of it but Martinez puts his faith in the kid, he delivers, has a ripper game, has been great since and even won an England call up.

I don't want this to look like a post about Barkley in the Stones thread but what I'm trying to say is that Martinez looks like he's really good with the youngsters and with him in charge I honestly think we will see players like John Stones playing to their potential.

Thinks its spot on we shouldn't be offering the lad a ludicrous contract. Have to say though, even after watching him only twice, he does look to be something a little bit special. It's going to fantastic to see him grow with us. How good he could be is pretty much down to him. Bring it on John....

Pity Moyes didn't take this attitude the other season when Barkley gave away that penalty against Blackburn rovers, we never seen he after that.

What we need is Lundstram and Garbutt to push on now....

Lundstram, Garbutt, Barkley and Stones -- all English and potentially top notch.

Would be nice to have a top young English forward come through...

I just read that article from the Echo and it was refreshing to hear something like this. Great to see that players may be given a chance. Good buy by Moyes though......

Yep, lets hope he doesn't come in for him with Barkley, a double bid of 16 million for the two in Jan

Am so looking forward to see this lad develop , the message being sent out by the manager to the youth must fill them with all kinds of hope and enthusiasm , really think Stones might just be the pick of the bunch . Hope Duffy gets to push on also , big season needed for him also .

Martinez initially got the offer accepted when at Wigan and we went in and stole him though, so good to know he was the current manager's choice anyway!

what make you think Everton would except 16m for two of England top young talents, when they are reputed to have refused a 16m late bid for Baines.
