John Stones

After watching him tonight, i have been so impressed by his calmness and composure on the ball for such a young lad. He never seems rushed to play a pass even when he has a few opposition players around him.

Stones is the bollocks, very rarely big up any youth player for fear of mass hyping, but the lad isn't too far away from being a special player.

Barnsley can be proud of what theyve done for the lad.

Agree, also watched him tonight and he was very good, always looking to be positive on the ball.

Have to say though that Zaha was absolutely electric, big buzz as soon as he got the ball. He's going to be avery good player (unless Moyes tires him out running back to defend).

Just watch the interview on the OS in which Martinez talks about Stones, apparently he was after him when he was Wigan's manager. Perhaps Roberto does have an eye for a player... that'll likely become apparent next summer though.

He had just held talks with Stones (when he was wigan manager) and basically it was an agreed deal. We came in at the last minute and Stones opted for us. Apparently Martinez phoned Stones and wished him well. Class written all over Martinez

I know he came on to just to add an extra defender but credit to Martinez for bringing him on regardless of us playing a title challenger and been completely under the pump, he could have just put on Heitinga instead he decided to put his faith in a teenager. How many managers would have given a teenage defender their debut against a team like Chelsea when they're. 1-0 up and completely under siege. I know he didn't get the chance to do much him been a part of a win like this will do his confidence the world of good, at his age every minute he gets will really help him improve.

I wonder if this now means that he's ahead of Heitinga, I really hope he is, Stones should be groomed to take over for Distin when he hangs up the boots where as Heitinga doesn't have a future here.
