No reflection on Baines or Stones, but this has to be the weakest England team I've ever seen start a competitive match.

The Scotsman in me rubs his hands together with glee.

Yeah and he'll boss them. I don't normally watch England but I'm gonna give this one a go.

His only mistake, but he's played it simple and orthodox, always found a man in space, and shepherded the winger when it was needed. Not doing anything spectacular, which is fair enough. Welbeck(!) has looked our best attacker and Rooney again looks of the pace, in his head at least.

I'd rather see him play centre back but still happy he is playing international football, that can only be a benefit for him.

Rooney looks like he has no confidence, as shown by that missed volley attempt. I'd compare it to a dad, staying in a loveless marriage because of the kids. Going through the motions, but no spark.

Stones hasn't had his best performance, but it's not a bad one either.

Agreed. They got around the outside of him a bit too easily a few times near the end of the match.

Happy he's playing for England though

just glad he didn't get injured or embarrassed, really worried he press would go at him if he made an error
