Jags seems to be playing himself back into form and I reckon part of that is that Stones is a calming influence and Jags knows if he gets into trouble then he can knock it to Stones who'll play us out of it. The way we knock it about at the back is scary sometimes, and it's hard to get rid of the old habit of wishing they'd just hoof it sometimes, but when it works, it's beautiful to watch.

He's ridiculously good for his age. Thought he was outstanding tonight. Olic is a fantastic player and Stones had the beating of him every time to the point where Olic wanted to get rid of the ball.
Give him this run of games as our centre half pick and we and him will never look back. As good as I've seen for a young centre half, and I hate typing stuff like that.

Wonderful performance by Stones tonight. Reads the game so well; such a fantastic footballing brain. His passing and visionis as good as you'll likely to see from a CB. To think he is only 20 is quite astonishing.
For a defender, he has the lot and then some. A very mature performance and a player who believes in his own ability. It's no surprise that in the last 2 games he has played, Jagielka has improved dramatically.

There were no flick-ons, audacious and nochalant keepy-ups over the oncoming striker's head, no sweeping long balls, no piercing forward passes, but loads of safe balls back to the keeper and clearances instead.
