He got MOTM for Everton today.

Video on the official site being presented the award after the game in the lounge.

He was top today. Can't wait to see how he develops over the coming years.

As said, balls over his head seem to be the area which he'll need the most learning but I thought he was great today. Reads the game very well, seemed to just step up and intercept a number of times today. Very cool head on him, reminds me of Rio. As a young centre back he will make mistakes and in that position you tend to get punished, think we all need to remember that for future reference. Top top defender in the making

A young Rio is exactly what I thought about him, classy player, I expect the vultures to come circling in around in 2 years or so...

I think he did a lot better than Distin today. Delt with Caroll and there long ball tactics well. He dosent look shakey on the ball like jags and distin and can defo pick a pass

I said the vultures would be circling, doesn't mean we have to sell him. I'll enjoy watching him develop into England's best defender.
I know mate but i find it deeply depressing that the second or third thing Evertonians think about after a good performance by a developing young player we actually own is that somebody might pinch him down the line. Not that its just you or just John Stones, like.

Know your history. It is always a threat hanging over us. I hope that the new Everton that seems to be developing will, sooner rather than later, not have to worry about the vultures.

Yeah but worrying about it on the back of a good performance, when its nowhere near on the horizon and wont be for at least a year or two, seems a bit daft to me is all.

That's a very fair point! It's ingrained into fans who grew up fans of Everton since the mid 90's. I was using it as a compliment to the lad as a sign of a potential rather but then recent history suggests this is what'll happen. I'm hoping Bobby will change this mentality with the supporters by keeping the likes of Barkley, Stones etc.

....he really does look like a Rolls Royce footballer. I did actually back him @ 66-1 to make this World Cup squad, very unlikely now but I suspect that if he was playing for a certain club over the park I'd be counting my winnings.

....lets not forget that he's not the finished article. More than any other position, Centre Backs learn from experience and there will be plenty of mistakes along the way. From an international perspective, however, England look a little thin in this department and he could push himself into the reckoning with a run of first team games.

Looks a fantastic prospect, just hope we sign his future partner in the summer too and let alcaraz go.

Would love next year to have
Jags/stones & Distin/Martin-indi

I'd think we have a fair few other options in hodgsons eyes, considering bar injurys the only way stones going to get games is the cup next week and a few other cup matches
