John Stones

Made a few mistakes today but have Jags and Distin never made a mistake or had an off game? The lad's class and learning the game at the highest level when centre backs rarely get the chance to do that. He'll pack on some weight over the summer and he'll turn in to a good Rio Ferdinand.

If he his half as good as Ferdinand I will be happy. He is a great footballer in the making, players like him don't get near their peak until they are in their mid to late twenties

hes scrawny and weak, unless he gets on the protein shakes strikers are gonna be wishing they play against him every day especially big tall fat ones like bony and carroll.

Sure I read or heard an interview where he said something like he was constantly eating steaks to try and bulk up.
He'll probably naturally bulk at 21ish. I was his physique at that age, and it wasn't until I turned 21/22 that I got some shoulders that wouldn't cut someone if touched! Luckily he runs around all day and I sit behind a desk so he won't get a belly like me.
When he does bulk up, he will be very, very good. Bony targeted him constantly today and gave him a tough time.

Very early days yet, and he has to make mistakes to learn from them.
I'm looking forward to seeing him develop over the next few seasons and when he is 21/22/23 being ready to nail down a starting place as his own.

I must be watching a different Stones to you. I see a nineteen year old lad taking the piss out of top class strikers for the most part of games and being as comfortable on the ball as I've seen for a centre defender at that age.

He's boss right now and will only get better. Hopefully he won't get beauts on his back as they are going to look like dickheads when he turns out to be the player he will be.

Nailed it. Good post.

Im not sure what people want, with the amount of stick & negativity around our young players. He has gone from Barnsley to pushing for CL football, in a short period of time. He looks mustard. Im very excited for the future.

Some pure haters on here. Imagine having Sheitinga at Centre Half today not trying a leg and getting bullied by Bony? Stones for me, his progression moving along nicely IMO.

Bang on the money there! He is doing alright for me, I think too many people expect players to be a punch of pixels controlled by a gamepad or something. Moaners and groaners should get real and support, a bit of encouragement will go a long way with all our players whether they are 19 or in there 30's.

Distin is a bett partner than Jags, purely based on recovery pace. Jags is stronger and slightly more comfortable on the ball, whilst Distin has pace. Stones reads the game well, is a better technical and more comfortable on the ball player than both, but if he gets in trouble Distin is more likely to be able to assist.mthat said I'd like to see him with Jags albeit they are both predominantly right-sided.
Europa League next season I'd like to see Duffy and Stones get a run out together.

stones is a baby in terms of the premiership hes gonna be top class, give him more time and he will be playing for england, we will have to accept hes going to have poor games, 19 and playing in the premiership at center half , keep going john your gonna be a star

His emergence is possibly biggest bonus of the season for me, centre back is one of those positions where players really do get better with age. Normally you see managers try and introduce them at full-back for a few seasons before they become trust worthy at centre back. It's great to see a manager showing conference in him.

I'm waiting for someone to show when he was 100% at fault for a goal we've conceded. For someone of his age with such little experience he's been a revelation. The faith RM has shown in him speaks volumes about our future.

I won't hear a bad word said about these 4
All 4 are learning, all 4 are overachieving for their age, and i would love all of them to be at Everton for the whole Martinez era
Ye bad games happen, and mistakes happen, but so long as they're supported by the fans in time we could have 4 real world class players on our books

Not his best game but we have seen already he is a fast learner when he has a poor game. He is still a kid so won't be exceptional every week.

...got to be made up we have this lad, surely. As said elsewhere, still learning his trade but already looks a Rolls Royce footballer. Don't want to get carried away but he could turn out to be very, very good.
