That's just people trying to form an opinion on players though isn't it? He's good at this, he's not quite as good at this as the other one is, he's the 1st, 2nd or 3rd best in his position at the club.
They will only compare it with what they know. In Colemans case, Hibbo.
which made it all the more ridiculous, its plainly obvious its an upgrade, the same with stones in my opinion

He's making wee mistakes as most nineteen year old footballers do, especially ones in the top flight. Not that there's many nineteen year old centre backs around at this level such is experience key in the position.

So makes it remarkable that he looks so good on the ball. I reckon he will turn out to be boss, really boss but it doesn't always work that way. The last teenage centre back we had who impressed me this much was Richard Dunne but he didn't develop into the world beater I thought he would.

Yeah but if you have an unknown quantity, as you did with a 60k right back, fans will try and quantify them by comparing his abilities with Hibbo's. It wasn't obviously an upgrade when he first played. We can say now with hindsight that Coleman is great and has been a roaring success. I suspect the same will be said of Stones, but it's not surprising that people are just trying to compare with what they know.

its was obvious to me make, with my almost psychic football knowledge, after the spurs game it was clear he could do things hibbert couldn't, then his time at blackpool, I called it straight away, and its fair to say i was 100 percent right, and deserve almost as much credit as coleman does himself

check out this jarg scotsman here

all young players make mistakes, Barkley dwells to long on the ball, Ronaldo used to have zero end product. If you spoke to the red half about Henderson sterling etc theyd have a list.

the thing about stones et al is theyre learning as they go. Let them learn, kerb your natural inclination to expect perfection every time, we all do it.

Dunne had a very good career though. Obviously I'd hope Stones does much better, and stays much slimmer, but to get a players like that for 3m and have them for a decade wouldn't be bad business!

Tbh mate, if you judge all fans talent spotting by your own high standards, they are unlikely to come out of it well. Most fans can't immerse and school themselves in the nuances of the beautiful game like yourself. You are wasted on here though, just typing about your superior knowledge.

Needs to work on his back first, get his back all nice and strong and the front will follow.

Once he hits pre season he should be on five protein shakes a day, N.O. Explode thirty minutes before his chest work out and pure super setting like a mad man.

His quest is complete when he offers Bony out in the tunnel before next season's game and Bony's arse pure goes.

Then we got ourselves a centre half.

I'm a level 1 qualified coach mate, I should really be out there changing the english game. I never even turned up for the course and still got sent a certificate, which means one of two things, the course is complete jarg, or more likely, they could tell just via an application form that I am so tactically complete I needn't bother attending to pass

Think the thing that done for Dunne at the real top top level was his pace mate, something stones definitely has, still Dunne went on to be have a pretty good career like with city and villa

I remember reading an interview with Moyes once where he said that he'd sooner play a young goalkeeper than a young centre-half, as he reckoned centre-half was more the vulnerable position. You just know we'd have seen Alcaraz/Hibbert/Neville/Round at centre-half before Stones.

So glad Martinez has had the confidence to play him because he's going to be class, and the more minutes he gets now the better he'll be.
