John Stones

As usual Stones getting a free pass for poor performances. He is part of the worst EFC defence I've seen in many a year.

Think most of us know he wasn't at his best yesterday. But most of are sensible enough to recognise his talent and accept he will make the odd mistake given his age without feeling the need to call for him to be sent out on loan. And at a time when we have no other centre half fit.

Stones is being slaughtered whereas Galloway is getting away with a far worse performance because he is flavour of the month.

The issue is with playing two ball playing CB's, the best ball playing CB's have always been paired with an out-and-out defender (Pique/Puyol etc), Stones will improve again with Jags back in the team.

Sorry if I'm confusing you, I'm trying to say if we had all the money in the world and we could have anyone I wouldn't have Stones playing CB. I think we need an experienced CB to steady the ship and get us some clean sheets. If we had this luxury (which we don't) I would be inclined to loan Stones out so he could gain some experience. I'm thinking about an ideal world when we are owned by a Sheik!

Yeah, we could ask City if they wanna loan us that CB they paid 32m for and take Stones for 6months.

Honestly, take a shower.

Where's he going on loan mate? Would be interesting to see how a senior england international does in league 2 I suppose lol

But the clubs that are owned by Sheiks and Oligarchs and the like are the clubs that want to buy him to go straight into their first team. A few iffy games doesn't change the fact that he is one of the most promising young players in Europe - and is already at the level of where our club is at this time, if not higher.

He had a bad day. But even on a bad day some of his touches and his confidence on the ball take your breath away. We've never seen such qualities as he possesses in a centre back wearing a blue shirt, not ever. Imagine what he's going to be like when he's 24. Enjoy watching him while you can ...

You back up my point.

Did more passing and running than any other centre half. Agreed.

But its his defensive skills that are lacking right now and need improving no end. Thats the argument most are making.

Yeah but his defending has been more impressive than his runs he's famed for previously, just having a few average games imo, still at his worst, doing better defending than Baines or Mori.

As well as the eye catching runs he's famous for, plenty of defensive highlights... (not my vid btw).

Still don't think he was that bad last game, intercepted loads, just ballsed up when it counted enough to stand out. He's our calmest player in defense.. sometimes maybe too calm and needs to wake up ;)

Not one second of that video is from this season. Further underlying my point.
