John Stones

Yeah but his defending has been more impressive than his runs he's famed for previously, just having a few average games imo, still at his worst, doing better defending than Baines or Mori.

As well as the eye catching runs he's famous for, plenty of defensive highlights... (not my vid btw).

Still don't think he was that bad last game, intercepted loads, just ballsed up when it counted enough to stand out. He's our calmest player in defense.. sometimes maybe too calm and needs to wake up ;)

Errrm exactly what has Baines done in his 2 games back that deserves the sideways dig at him mate? - Try changing Baines name for Galloway if you want to actually sound like your basing what you say on reality

You really think he is one of the best CB we have had in years? I'm shocked, he is young and has the potential to be a great player but he is not the finished article. I'd rather have an experienced CB at the moment and have the luxury of loaning him out.
one day, hopefully REAL soon, I am gonna light you up like a Christmas tree. You massive cockwomble.

This thread is showing the exact reason Stones probably wanted out of Everton. That some supporters will gleefully attack players of the calibre of Leighton Baines and John Stones as part of their blind adherence to the manager is shocking. Anyone thinking Stones will be here next season to play for this manager is deluded. There's only so many times one of the best centrebacks in Europe will watch himself getting run ragged on MOTD as part of a shambolic defensive structure backed up by a joke keeper.

This is bang on the money, add Lukaku to this, we are in danger of losing some of the best players we have seen at Goodison in years, or if we don't lose them we will at least wasting the talent they have, a choice between Lukaku and Stones staying for the long term or sticking with Roberto is no choice at all.

To be fair, @n01efc did say "if we had an oligarch" and world class defenders we could loan him out.

I think he was thinking of Chelsea loaning Courtois out to Atletico to grow as a player then come back the finished article.

Anyway we've all had a giggle about it now.

I think Stones should play every game but due to his age perhaps he needs a game or two to rest? Same with Lukaku...and Barkley...and Deulofeu..

Snag with bringing in top quality at their ages is that we dont have the strength in depth as we dont have unlimited funds.

Next season he will be knackered if he is overplayed this season and then off to the Euros.

He is just in bad form, like others, he is the worst of them all for me like, at the mo.

But he has also been the best, when we have been in form, so he should be given the critisism and praise

Im not comfortable with him learning his trade by losing us points, so he can be a good player for another club.

The 1st, 2nd and 4th at minimum were his fault, he chased bojan out causing the space in behind him, the 2nd he made a stupid pass and we lost the ball from him.

The 2nd he made an attempt at a long ball and wasn´t far off picking out a very good run by, I think, kone. It was just short, and was cut out. What happened after was nowt to do with him really.

Just because a pass doesn´t reach its intended target does not in any way mean it wasn´t a good idea to try it, and it was a good run to try pick out. And it was a long ball so hardly ever will be turned around so quickly to catch you out. Stoke did it very well though.

So if you were a coach you would actually lay the blame on the player for trying a ball to get our striker in behind the defence, just because the defense cut it out and managed a quick breakaway goal? Makes no sense to me. That kind of pass should be encouraged, mix things up a little and I am sure the strikers appreciate the attempt and would like a bit more of it.
