John had a very bad game Monday ,lets hope that's out of his system. Biggest criticism the pundits are levelling at him are he goes to ground too much. I agree to a point and know what a bad defensive trait it is. From personal experience I can say going to ground held my defending back a lot when I played ,until a young lad who I had tried to slide about 4 times previous Looked down at me and said "MATE JUST STAY ON YOUR FEET" stayed with me rest of my career.

Quality footballer. At this stage of his career, needs an experienced central defender next to him to teach him, and a quality goalkeeper behind him to keep him in check.
Has had neither for most of the season.

Not really, it was in relation to point that his defensive skills are lacking, just looked at a vid showing plenty of defensive skills. Just a bad patch, the lad defends well most games.

Errrm exactly what has Baines done in his 2 games back that deserves the sideways dig at him mate? - Try changing Baines name for Galloway if you want to actually sound like your basing what you say on reality

Fair point, can't argue. Baines was normally our weakest defender, but normally one of our best players, in hindsight your right, he's done well defensively since his return.

This thread is showing the exact reason Stones probably wanted out of Everton. That some supporters will gleefully attack players of the calibre of Leighton Baines and John Stones as part of their blind adherence to the manager is shocking. Anyone thinking Stones will be here next season to play for this manager is deluded. There's only so many times one of the best centrebacks in Europe will watch himself getting run ragged on MOTD as part of a shambolic defensive structure backed up by a joke keeper.
