John Stones

I think, now forgive my pie in the sky thinking, Rom and John strike me as players with real ambition, as long as they see progress they would consider staying, more wages to throw at them would certainly help, but I think and im aware they both have utter vultures as Agents, their main focus will be progress from the football clab

Then we have to match their ambition.

New owners would help. ;)

.....his future has to be in doubt (latest links with Real Madrid) but I can't see anything happening until summer. That leaves the rest of the season to influence him both on and off the field with success and new owners. A real indicator will be the signing of a new contract, if we're not seeing that then his resolve is surely a move elsewhere.

On another note, ive just watched Martinez press conference and while typing im typing with Robertos voice in my head saying the words.

Who is John's agent?

As the selling club we hold all the aces. Wish the club would just take a no nonsense line on day one, and we can concentrate on developing further.
I can only recall ourselves and Pulis at baggies not caving in over a transfer request recently.
You are bang on. We hold all the aces for our top players.
No way we sell before Euros either, even if we wanted to.

think if he kept his mouth shut the 3rd bid would have been enough.

I got the feeling they were weakening and as you say Jose made it impossible to concede by his behaviour but by the summer, takeover or not, there is absolutely no financial reason at all to sell him, it would be a footballing decision.

Jose messed it up by dissing "us" in the press.

Personally.
Certainly didn't help, other than put pressure on John for the transfer request. What was also a block was we didn't have a CB to replace him with, if they'd been smart they would have offered to at least loan us one of their youngsters early on as not only would they have got game time we'd have an extra body as backup.

Pretty much that, the key to keeping all the best of the younger players is to show we are moving forward and at least trying to be ambitious in what is being built.

IF we manage to do it before it's too late god only knows

Absolutely spot on..... we have something they want. To say we will not sell is unrealistic as everything has its price... bale, ronaldo, suarez etc but we have to set the bar to let any prospective buyer know what entry level is required and to set our stance with the media

While there is a timid response form the club, uncertainty will be there...

Reading today, MUFC want Lukaku for 40 mill, how much did they pay for Martial? how many goals has he scored? how old is he? 40 million!!! for me I would set a figure of no less than 75 million based on age and talent

Like wise I would set a fee of 60+ million for Stones based on age , talent and prospect and of course David Luiz

For me , by setting this level and being aggressive with the media takes away any uncertainty with the media and buyers and also puts the player in a place where he cannot be unsettled. If a club meets the asking price they will have an opportunity to speak to the player BUT until they have no negogiations whatsoever will take place.

Tell the player they are going nowhere and that they are with us to stay. Black and white to keep focus....

The rags see us as a smaller , selling club and in a way we cannot keep up with some but we can certainly make them think hard about doing business with us... gone are the days where we roll over....

Spot on - contracts now have some value. Also quote them 70m and 60m and lets do business. Levy didn't sell Bale for 80 odd million by undervaluing him.
