I didn't know that. Ta. Thought he was purely a Moyes signing.Well known that the scouts basically forced Moyes to get him as he wasn't too keen.
All our competitors have TV money coming in. We need to persuade key young players that they can nurture their game and achieve success playing in front of Tim Howard.@The Esk why do we need a takeover? We've got £50mil ish coming in from the additional TV revenues this season + a few players out of contract for wages...we should be able to increase the wages of key players by substantial amounts.

@bluestevon i think if we made a couple of key signings such as a yarmolenko and a butland then the key players would see the ambition and stay.
Stones has seen whats happened to chelsea and we are a known quantity to him so with top signings and ambition i dont think he would move.
Unless its a real madrid or barca bid.
You don't sell your best players if you want to show ambition and have some plan for success.IMO Everton could sell both Stones and Lukaku and bring in 120m into the club.
Not many teams could turn down that type of money for 2 players and as good as they are, it would be insanity not to take it.
Although he is one of a kind, I think we would have more difficulty replacing Romelu that we would Stones. A top notch goalscorer is very hard to come by.

Why do we need a takeover ? Go to the home page and read my articles going back to August - it's essential. We cannot compete nor have any chance of retaining talent without new investment, not just a change of ownership.
@The Esk just to follow on from that, as we have guaranteed income from TV revenues surely we could borrow against next years money and then have (lets say) £100mil.
As a very basic example we then take £80mil of that money and massively strengthen the team...and also give Stones a pay rise.
If we did that then i would hope he (and others) would see our ambition and extend their contracts. A takeover would be excellent but not 100% needed in the short term to keep players id have hoped?
