John Stones

He looks fed up, knackered, mind elsewhere.

Two terrible games in a row now. Got to be dropped now to protect him and the team
Not sure he looks knackered, his slow movement to the ball/man looks to me like an overconfident player coasting a little.

Has a touch of the Yobo's at the minute, every mistake ends up in the back of the net.

Should never have played RB last night, was as bad a decision as playing Alcaraz v Kiev. Martinez is a bit of a coward I think. Scared to upset any of the three central defenders as he is Howard.

I agree with this.

Bobby hid behind Seamus's injury to keep Stones in the team.

Poor show.

I'm fairly sure that Stones will leave in the summer, and as long as we get a good price I don't mind. How much do people think his price will be affected by recent performances, and the fact that he plays in an awful defence?

I would have taken him to United during the summer no problem at all and I would still take him. I personally prefer Laporte, but Stones is one of the top young centre backs around. He has suffered a dip in form and Martinez isn't exactly the man to help him in a defensive sense. He does appear over confident on the ball at times and he has a tendancy to get a bit panicked when teams are coming at your defence in numbers.

I don't think he's been at his best this season but Everton as a defensive unit have been poor this season. I can still envisage him being hot property during the summer and it's likely that he will be on his way for some ridiculous price.

Well, he is an integral part of that awful defence, so he cannot be distanced from any criticism of it.

Given that only a handful of clubs would be prepared to pay, or be in a position to pay, the amount Chelsea offered last year I think there is a chance a move to a "monied elite" club must be diminishing in light of his performances this season.

John is far from the finished article and I think for his own good he should get his head down and concentrate at truly establishing himself at Everton over the next few years.

The uncertainty over where he will be next season is clearly affecting his game.

There seems to be a belief that he is in a shop window and in trying to impress the shoppers he is fluffing his lines.....at a high cost to EFC.

Life was so much simpler and his football more enjoyable for him last season when he was just a young bloke cementing his place at a club which cherished him.

He isn't the first exciting young talent to have his head turned by promises of greener fields.....he won't be the last.

£45mil is the starting price, at least

I don't think a dip in form effects a price tag.

David Luiz was either not playing or being terrible in games, and still went for £50mill.

...I really like this fella but it opens the debate about the wisdom of keeping players who truly want to be elsewhere, particularly when the issue is played out in the full glare of publicity. He's more than good enough to turn his form around but in hindsight the decision to block a move might not have been in the best interest of the club (although I appreciate nobody met our valuation).
