John Stones

Whats knee jerk about watching him deteriorate over the last few months. My guess is he doesn't want to play for us. ship him off or he'll cost us more goals.

The way your post came across to me was that you were complaining about him being out jumped by a 6 foot 4 target man as part of your argument to suggest we sell him. How many centre halfs would have prevented Gestede from scoring that last night? Not many is my guess.

I do agree he hasn't been at his best this season, especially defensively, and we have actually been better since him and Howard have been on the bench but it doesn't suddenly make him a bad player.

We need to give him a chance as he's currently wearing our shirt. I suspect he will move on but I think he's remained professional throughout all the transfer stuff. He's still put in 100% every game and the cocky swagger he's had this season isn't purely down to all that, it's the way he plays the game. When that type of stuff comes off, it's great. That's why clubs like Barcelona and Chelsea want him.

He will get over this bad patch as an Everton player or not. And when he improves on some weaknesses in the defensive side of the game he will go on to become one of the best centre backs in World Football in my opinion and the fans who've slated him will start to look very stupid.

Whilst I hope Jags continues to be boss for a little while longer yet, I am dreaming of a Stones - Funes Mori partnership. The silky skills of John and the beastly headers of Ramiro. The stuff dreams are made of.

I fear losing Rom and Ross as they for me are both irreplaceable. I'm not too bothered about losing Stones providing the money is good, £45 million and I would happily see him out the door. As good as he will be im happy with Mori and a good CB signing coming in with Jags and Galloway/Browning as back ups with a wad of cash left over for a top quality goalkeeper and left sided player.

Agree on this, to be honest I don't think Barkley, as much as we like him, will have teams making big offers on him, and i can't see him making noises for a move, Stones on the other hand might but i don't think we would miss him as much as Rom who it will be very hard to replace. The CB we have cover for, up front we have nothing else.

Yep, true. But if either of them go this investment means that all the money (which will be huge) can go back into the squad on their replacements.

Still, Rom suits us perfectly and so does Stones - but as you said Rom would be the harder player to replace.

I thought that was down to Howard not playing?

It's debatable isn't it. Although, there was a few dodgy pass backs putting him under pressure instead of putting his foot through it. That kind of decision making is taught at under 10 level lol.

I'm not getting on his back, but I believe he has bought into his own hype.

Agreed tho, it can't be put on one player.

Yeah I get giving young players a chance etc but if he is a charlie big balls then get rid. I highly doubt he will be here come next season. just my 2 cents.

Nope, he hasn't 'bought into his own hype'. If he'd have done that he'd have been playing dreadfully all season. He had a shaky spell of form and then an injury. Nothing more than that.

He's always had that self-confidence which almost makes it look like's he's not arsed. It's what makes him such a good player.

There's literally no evidence at all to prove he is a charlie big balls though mate.

Bar his request, which got turned down, he's got on with everything as he should and in the right manner and was one of our best performers in the first half of the season. His form stagnated a bit due to one or two poor moments in a few consecutive games, and then I think the campaign kind of caught up with him and looking back now he did look leggy and ready for a rest. That, combined with an injury, means that he hasn't played bar 15 minutes against Villa in over a month. That's all.

At the moment, Mori and Jags are the preferred pairing and that's fine. One injury and that changes...

Look I hope he proves me wrong but I think he doesn't want to play for us because the fans have been offside with him on top of his bad form. His piddling about in the box against spurs a prime example. He defo believes his own hype though, his agent is in his ear for sure.

Every top player 'believes their own hype'. It's not having a huge ego or being arrogant, it's having self confidence.

No, the fans got on his back because of the thing vs Spurs which was never an issue. He was in total control and won an (albeit soft) free-kick. A few games later in a similar situation he goes back to Howard and look what happened!
