Martinez also gave him a lot of responsibility and he thrived. Hasn't been the same since that turn in his own box and placated the crowd to chill. I reckon he's a bag of nerves in front of a load of booers.

Lukaku last season = cant trap a ball + cant hold the ball up.

Barkley last season = Lets sell hes another rodwell etc

Besic = Poor signing and average inconsistent player

Deulofeu = Selfish player

The list goes on and on, if anything Martinez gives young players responsibility and plays to their weaknesses for short term loss but long term gain...see barkley out of position last season of lukaku having to hold the ball up due to martinez wanting them to develop.

Same with Stones, senior centre back next to Mori for most of the season. The crowd gets on his back when he felt he was in control and then gets a non penalty awarded against him and the disgracful decision against man city.

Martinez will not be hard on him but will help him learn from all this and next season he will move up a level like the others

I worry abut Stones, there is no doubt of his ability and potential and having that injury has not helped. I fear this summer may find him leaving much to our regret.

I think and it is just my thinking that RM is sidelining him quite a bit, mostly at the moment Stones is on the bench. The only time he comes on is for RM to experiment with 3 CBs or as a RB to replace Coleman. So we have an upcoming CB being played out of position, how often has RM done that before to players to their detriment?

Jagielka is not getting younger, RM should have been using Stones more alongside Mori for our future pairing and looking to retire Jags. AS for Captain's band then pass to Barry or McCarthy for the moment.

Mind this my view but I do think RM is alienating Stones.
