I think handing in a transfer request might count as a little bit of evidence.

Handing in a transfer request in August...

Since then he has made no indication at all that he wants to leave.

His performances from September up to Christmas were great and he was consistently one of our best performers.

Had a few iffy periods in games (not whole games) and then got injured. Played a total of 60 minutes since...

Not being funny but I would look at it the other way.

Since then he has made no indication that he wants to retract it.

It got turned down?

You can't retract something that has already being declined...

It's over. It happened. He would be playing in the side if not for his injury and the subsequent form of Mori. That's the facts.

You mentioned the ones I was thinking of tbh, Laporte and Marquinhos are both 21, have played in the CL and will be cheaper than Stones.
I don't think they'll actually be any cheaper. PSG paid a lot of money for Marquinhos -- they won't flip him so soon without turning a hefty profit. Laporte plays for Bilbao, so judging from the way they usually handle transfers, he won't be allowed to leave for anything less than his minimum release clause, which is bound to be upwards of €50 million.

Hopefully the new money coming in from Moshiri and Sky will mean it doesn't really matter if all future bids fall well short of what Chelsea offered last year.

I'd like to keep Stones and see how he does under a more comprehensive coaching set up. It's hard to judge any of the defenders on their time playing under Martinez.

I'd say he was just using his brain. If he still did want to move, coming across as a sulky teenager wouldn't be the best idea as potential buyers would be put off by this. Coming across as a total professional is the way to pick up a good contract elsewhere. Plus, who knows what is agent is doing in the background? Agents and pay days go together like a bullet and a gun.

Marquinhos made rumblings to move in Jan. Laporte has a release clause of about £35mil i think.

Amazes me that you're actively wanting to sell one of the best players we've had here in over 20 years...
Just my personal opinion, mate. He's been suspect since he had his head turned by Chelsea and he's showing no signs of rebounding. He has quality but he's a want-away. It's clearly evident in his play and mannerisms (maybe I'm reading in a bit much here) that he doesn't want to be at Everton. I think he'll grow into an even sounder player, just think it'll take him moving elsewhere to achieve that.

And it probably got shredded anyway after El Bob told him he wasn't going anywhere - nowt to retract and if he'd handed in a second one, I think we'd have known about it by now as his agent (if he has one) would have hawked him around big-time.

I rather suspect the way selection has been getting made RM is pushing him a bit. On the bench used as a sub for the experimental back 3 or replace Coleman at RB. For me RM has got this all wrong Stones should be used instead of Jagielka. Stones and Mori should be seen as our future CB pairing and RM should be moving towards this but the arseling continues mucking about.

On other posts folk were claiming RM brings on the young players well start playing Stones more instead of Jagielka who is not geting younger.

He was superb from September up until late December. Have a look at this thread at that time... In no way was he any more 'suspect' (commonly known as a young defender learning the trade at the highest level) than he was last season.

He had a shaky spell of form and then an injury. So how it can be 'clearly evident' he's a want-away is beyond me.

I respect it's just opinion mate but it's based on adding 2 + 2 and getting 5

He hasn't come out with a single word about wanting to be here at Everton since the summer when he put in his transfer request.

I am no longer bothered what happens to him so long as we get a shedload of cash because he has made not attempt to convince anyone he wants to actually stay here and be a part of Everton.

I liked the lad, ever since that preseason panenka pen against Juve. He's not Rooney though, there shouldn't be people having a cry about it. He came here for an opportunity, got it, and then let his head get turned almost immediately after.
