John Stones

You thinking Martinez made Lukaku, Stones and Barkley the players they are, totally balanced, God gave them their talent, Martinez is trying his best to ruin it.
Can you show me where I said that please.
He helped these players develop. Without question. Would stones have been a ball playing centre Half under moyes . Lukaku would be good at defending corners. Ross be taken off after one misplaced pass.
Martinez is not faultless . Not by a long way. But to say he hasn't played a part in developing them 3 in my opinion is a load of rubbish.
But that is your balanced opinion

Im saying that not only has he failed to develop them, but his "coaching" has actually put them back 12months in their overall progress, give him another 12months and they will all be utterly finished.

As for Stones, maybe you should go back and watch his games at Under 11, his games at Under 13, his games at Under 16 and his games for Barnsley, he has ALWAYS been a ball playing player, I find it amusing that you think Martinez has made John Stones an outstanding talent, hes ALWAYS been an outstanding talent.

Once again you are misquoting me. And on top of that your talking absolute drivel.
But if it makes you happy

I'll ask you 1 question. Do you think Lukaku and barkley are worse players now then they were 2 seasons ago. A yes or no will do

Its a loaded question, young players will get better with age.

So yes, of course they are better players.

Heres 1 for you.

Which of these players has improved in the last 2 years.

Baines, Jags, Howard, Distin, Barry, McCarthy, Coleman, Mirallas.

And how many of those players have declined? If you want, feel free to remove the players over 30.

But you said that are been ruined and in 12 months will be useless. So that's confusing

Mates these are not mutually exclusive things. @blue to the bone

It's possible that some players are getting better and some are getting worse. It's possible that Stones is just going through a sort of sophomore slump. Or that we just overrated the hell out of him and probably should've cashed in while we could (I'm in this camp). Or that Martinez is 'ruining' him, but that I kind of doubt, considering the number of factors at play.

I think he will still be there in the summer though, stones can be world class and people like Chelsea et al will come back in for him, cannot see him going for a massive fee though. I say we hang on to him and make him work more, he's already shown quality and I was at England the other night and apart from the 2nd Holland goal, he played well.

I agree with you on this . I think people blame the manager for all the negative things and give him no credit for the positives
I try to.see both sides

You went to the game, I only saw it on telly. But I am sure that I could hear crowd rumblings when Stones started arsing around, like he does for us.

This season, other than the few games just before he was dropped along with Howard (or rested/injured), how many bad games has he actually had?

As a young player with Howard behind him, Jags injured so he was 'senior' centre back with Mori, has he had a 'bad season'?

Id say hes been great myself and just in the way Barkley/Lukaku have had to play different roles he will be learning all the time.

This may affect him negatively in the short term but next season i think he will step up another level and be an outstanding centre back for us....at the age of 22.

When you see other teams like Bayern or Dortmund playing out from the back the defenders do the same as stones if not worse.

Mistakes arent highlighted as much because they dont usually concede or lose games from the errors as they are th dominant team.

Put Stones in Bayern or Barca sides and he will look amazing...instead we had him in front of Howard and also alongside Mori who was adapting.

Next season he will be amazing.
