Thought our CBs did a better job last night. On a few occasions they read passes and intercepted in front of the player rather than the usual let them have it and back off attitude that has plagued the whole defence. They were actually meeting the ball rather than standing ground. Still a bit suspect with losing attackers when the ball is crossed but much better and need to carry on that way.

I'm not resigned to him going at all. We should fight to keep him. I'd make him captain, or at least vice-captain, this summer, I think taking on something like that will help make him a better player.

Was our best player by a mile yesterday. Think it was due to constant pressure from saints he didnt have time to think about things which can cause errors. Had to rely on doing everything naturaly.
Liked it when he called oviedo out for letting a cross come in too. Thats what he should be doing.

Looked alright again yesterday, bit more subtlety about his play I found. Hopefully he can keep his head up and perform in the Derby etc.

Its been a tough season for him and it hasn't helped us but he has gained valuable experience through the tough times. Just hope he will still be with us next season and bring that new found experience to our table.

Like Lukaku, i think a certain calibre of manager will make the pair of them stay. Appoint another 'up and coming' and they'll both swerve it as the up and coming clearly doesnt work.

But Martinez has always encouraged Stones to play his own game, and when Stones was getting grief for the Cruyff turns etc, Martinez backed him.
