John Stones

If we get even 30 million for Stones, we will be very lucky. I was shocked in the Summer when we didn't accept Chelsea's offer and still am. This lad is full of potential, but why are we letting him make all the mistakes in our team, when he's happy to go elsewhere?

Not very good defensively and a pure Martinez type player - just to show "how to play the game" but now how to stop the goals.

He's been badly mishandled by Martinez I'm afraid. What other talented young centre backs in European football are asked to go against their natural instincts and try and play their way out of trouble despite the odds not being in their favour? Obviously I will never happen but Stones needs some time with somebody like Simeone, a manager who knows how to get the most out of his defenders.

Not saying he's good enough for that calibre of club right now but he badly needs a mentor. The last thing you want is a youngster already under pressure and out of form being asked to play it around when under pressure.

No chance of 30million for him now surely. Still got potential but unlikely to fulfill it under this regime. Should be busting a gut (no pun intended) to get in England 1st team alongside Smalling. Don't see him trying to do that. Raved about him 12 months ago but starting to question his attitude and appetite for the challenge.

Could there be a worse manager for the lad than Martinez? It's incredible how far backwards he's gone over the last 12 months.

He can and probably will go onto be a fantastic defender, providing he gets away from Martinez.

I thought he was pretty solid for the first 30 minutes and then went to absolute pieces.

He's got potential but will always be a liability with this wipe in charge.

Stones is useless. His "challenge" in the air for their first was pitiful.

Get him out the door if anyone is fool enough to take him and have the new manager spend on someone who can defend.

Or get a manager who could sort his game out and develop the potential?

The mistakes he makes can be cut from his game with the right coaching. I genuinely feel sorry for the lad, he's been thrown to the dogs all season. A young, inexperienced centre half partnered for the majority of the games by someone from Argentina who is still adapting.

He was.

I thought the defence, the team generally, were doing all right up until Oviedo sliced that clearance and Kallana should have scored.

It was as if all the uncertainties surfaced after that.
