John Stones

Not writing him off at all mate. In fact think he could be an utterly superb midfielder. He drove us forward second half like dare I say Gerrard did for the RS at times.

He's a sensational footballer. Just not a centre half for me. Dier is exceptional but our Stones could be better in that role. His passing is top drawer.

At this point in time he is a young defender who has great potential. That potential can be unlocked primarily you would think through his ability to learn the teaching coming from either the coaching staff or a player as a mentor. It seems to me that no one at Everton has those skills .

I suspect most think he isn't going to be number one choice at the Euros, that's unless either Smalling or Cahill gets injured , I suspect that most don't expect him to be at Everton at the start of next season ,I don't nor do I feel anyone is going to pay big money for a CD then convert him to a midfielder

Money can't buy you Stones was sung but I suspect in the next 3 months or so that will turn out not to be true and I wonder how much money that's going to turn out to be.

Nobody was any good in the first half yesterday. But 2nd half we was the player we all know he can be. Was great defending and going forward too.

He was our best player in the first half by far as well mate. He made three tackles (one on Martial, one on Rashford and I think one on Lingard) that all saved certain goals.

He was caught out trying to cover about four positions when Fellaini scored - and that was down to Besic getting skinned and Baines for some reason deciding to try and pass Fellaini on in the six-yard box.

Yeah you're right mate, I've blocked the majority of that first half out of my memory tbh

he moved into midfield didn't he? think he's make a brilliant defensive mid myself. he'd get a few assists as well.

Now is the time to test it out with the season being finished for us.

Try Stones in the Barry role, possibly give Galloway time at CB with Jagielka, play Dowell and Connolly. Nothing to lose but a lot to gain.

That's called tactics and planning. Won't happen under this manager ..!
