John Stones

Couldn't care less about mistakes he made when trying to pass the ball out of defence but not sure I seen the same player as the media when they talk about this ball playing centre half setting up attacks from defence. That's not the problem for him, it's the fact he's never going to throw his head in or put his body on the line to block a shot. Kind of lad who'll look great in Spain but really doubt he's going to become a top defender playing here.

Good call this, why I like Mori and players like Williams, not scared to get stuck in, take the ball and the player when neded, John was more worried about keeeping his hair clean. Correct about Spain, I also think Pep might of looked great in Spain but our game is different and his way might not work as well as some people think, the things that he likes that Stones did well to me are the things you shouldn't be doing in this league at the back, to much messing about looking pretty on the ball can easily lead to mistakes over here.

Yep Pep and his gang of possession lovers will be mid table come May.

Works in Spain but not in this league.

Heres my take, Stones was always going to go, the only discussion has ever been how much, he wasnt sold to satisfy any rules on wages or to boost our transfer kitty, he was sold cos for the 12months he has expressed a desire to leave. We received a bid we found acceptable and we sold him.

Did the transfer delay our business? Very much so, we had to wait for Stones to 100% go, with his sale it allows us to target different players, it allows us to offer players more wages and it then gives us leeway with regards regulations. If Stones would have stayed we still could have signed players, but we wouldnt have been able to offer them decent wages and it would have restricted the volume of players we could target.

Thats my view, for what its worth.

The exact thing people said for Germany.

He had the undisputed best team in world football in Spain to implement his system, then took over one of the best teams in world football in Germany to implement his system there. I reckon City are roughly the 3rd-4th best team in English football. It's not exactly a certainty it's going to work here.

But he's still got unlimited resources, so it just might. Maybe not the instant success the sheikhs want, but I doubt they're gonna be midtable or something.

That said, I wish they are, just for fun.

City have a LOT of players that just gave up last season, its not like riding a bike, some of them wont be able to get back on, this will be the hardest job hes ever had, if he succeeds, he puts himself up there, if he fails, hes a fraud.
