Staying in January is no big news. Transfer request on the first day of the window next Summer (or immediately after Euros if he is involved to stay focussed) just about a certainty for me.
The meltdown will be interesting in here.

There will be no meltdown from me for one I have long since accepted that football is hierarchy based on money.

Powerful wealthy clubs attract young talent seeking to cash in on that talent. that is how it works and Everton is no more immune than anyone else.

Aston Villa are one of the greatest football clubs in the world. Founder members of the oldest league, 7 times champions, European Cup winners, 7 times winners of football's oldest trophy, undisputed top sporting club in England's second city........falling like a stone into tier 2.

Why? Money.

It is what it is. I accept it. I deplore it but accept it. When Stones transfer request comes in I won't bat an eyelid. Simply business as usual.

I don't think there will be a meltdown. His move to a CL club is pretty much an accepted given in these parts. The disappointment in all this is that this season Everton had an opportunity to be a CL club (albeit long odds). Of course, we still may attain that, but I do feel the team has let its talent down to a large extent thus far this season.

He won't hand in another transfer request.

I just didn't fall for that " it was a mistake" excuse when the request was rejected.
I don't blame him either of course. Love the guy and am all in with this vision of Roberto's to build from youth. But we really needed to do something this season to keep our young guns satisfied. Instead, so far, just underachievement once again.

But mate if these young stars are as super talented as all that isn't it up to them to get us into the top 4?

Imagine we finish 10th and just say Stones, barkley, Rom and Deulofeu marched into the manager and said "Everton are only mid div d we want to go" would the manager be able to say "look boys when you say Everton you mean YOU finished 10th?" In my view yes he would.

I don't go for this "I hve to justify my talent" line. You can justify your talent anywhere.

No shame in admitting its money.

Can you fault any of those 4 for much of the dropped points this season? They have been great.

I imagine Stones is sat in his penthouse suite thinking "Thank Christ I never believed all that stuff Jose was spouting".....I don't concur with all this stuff about him being sold in January - I think he's bought in to what Bobbys trying to do here.

I am not faulting them. I'm asking what they are made of.

I'm saying OK come on show us how good you really are. No hiding. No finger pointing. Step up. Be an Alex Young, an Alan ball, a Peter Reid.

The likes of Trevor Steven, Kevin Sheedy and Adrian Heath didn't walk into a top 4 team able to show off their talent. they got into the trenches at a then struggling team and made it happen.

Look at the 1984/87 team. All men. Real men willing to fight.
