John Textor

Just re-watched the SKY interview, his comments on Dyche is pleasing to hear, sounds like he definitely laying down the challenge for him. He says alot of things every fan wants to hear, the trouble is we have had so many false dawns in my lifetime and shysters come through this club I don`t believe we can be the things he says. We just aren`t allowed nice things from my experience....

His quotes on Dyche, "Sean, I don`t know personally, I watched him at Burnley for so many years and do wonders with no budget and, you know, a challenge at the squad level. Obviously he is a guy that knows how to coach in the Premier League."

"I would sit down with him sometime in the future and say, OK I`m going to bring you a very different profile of player from any corner of the world, are you interested? Are you capable? Can you coach this squad? I like that you like the big tall tough Irish kid like Jake O`Brien but do you like Igor Jesus, Luis Enrique or Tiago Almada? Does he have an ambition to coach that profile? Does he have a system that will work for a squad optimised from the best players in the world? He would have every right to stay there, I haven`t even thought about the coaching issue."

Sounds like a shape up or ship out to me... his system will not suit where Textor wants to go, nowhere near.
Why is he bringing anybody players. Is he really going to do another Moshiri and not let people get on with their jobs. :coffee:

Southall is on record saying that the goal at the start of every season for Everton should be to win the league.

He's right.
Great. Massively and truly unrealistic though isn't it? Especially for a club in PSR trouble every year.
Wharton's signing and the new academy are entirely down to him.
Utter nonsense you've made up because now he's interested in us. It's Dougie Freedman for Wharton, just like all the other signings they've made from the Championship. That's why he's regarded as one of the best sporting directors around.

As for the Academy, impressive how its entirely down to him when they started the redevelopment a full year before he came in and opened it two months after his arrival. What a man, capable of bending time to his will for his football clubs.
Lyon fans hate him, because they blame him for the collapse of the broadcasting funding throughout french football?
They protested him well before the TV rights deal failed this summer. Here they are protesting him in 2023: https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.c...e-toulouse-victory-amid-relegation-struggles/

You're just another fan who'll lap up anything if they tell you everything's rosy.

I guess for me it depends on whether he sees his involvement as limited to positioning players where he sees them fitting best within the group as we've seen him do with the Eagle clubs and to an extent also with us this summer. In and of itself this sort of collaboration can be a positive.

The line I hope he doesn't cross is in bringing players into the group in the first place, this is what he needs to leave to the professionals, we've seen with Moshiri the damage it can do when the owner goes rogue in the market. But I can't see many signs of him really doing that at his clubs so far?

Only thing I've heard on the grapevine is he went out and got Wharton in for Glasner last January mate - but that's a player who perfectly fit both the system of Glasner and the recruitment strategy of the club also.

Acceptable involvement in that case.

I think Thelwell will work well with him actually, Textor is on record multiple times stating how investment in youth is key - he paid for the new palace academy along those lines - backing words with action.
Thelwells first action on getting the job was firing Unsworth and trying to restructure the academy system at the club, recruitment wise he's also targeting a 24yo and younger model of player.

Fully agree, shouldn't allow any owner to bring in players at all.

But if the owner suggests a player then I have no problem as long as it remains just an offer

All said and done I think we very possibly got two Lyon players due to exactly that scenario of Textor offering them as possibilities to Thelwell.
Yeah that’s right. As you say it’s great if we get a scenario where textor offers players from his clubs, and maybe other networks to Kevin, but he has final say. I have no problem with an owner like that.

i mean as a fan base we’re hilarious. all of us , me included , have spent months if not years convinced the club are circling the drain of administration and convinced nobody will ever buy us . That the club will end up selling the stadium and that there is no future but pain . Suddenly this billionaire rocks up and starts talking up his future plans and loads of us “typical BS merchant , just a new moshiri , definitely not what we need “ .

We are the epitome of beggars not being choosers and at the minute this fella doesn’t appear to be skint , a money launderer , likely to be Sanctioned or running some kind of Ponzi scheme . All of which puts him streets ahead of previous owners and ownership contenders .

I’m sure it’ll end badly , we’re Everton after all but just at this minute it feels relatively positive . Onwards and upwards towards tomorrow blues .

Thelwell's multi-club experience with RB won't hurt either when Textor is such a committed devotee.

Sounds like he is saying O'Brien is Sh*** compared with the other lads...

Nah he's simply saying can you only coach one style of player, ie. an old style English type.

Also I think a bit of a 'csn he not manage foreign players'

Both criticism are very valid when you look at Dyches history.

First three games we had precisely three foreign players starting in each in the starting 11.

Mykolenko, Doucoure and Gueye first two and Ndiaye in for Doucoure in the third.

Myko aside if you aren't British or french speaking then good luck playing for dyche.
