I';m amazed when Coleman does get a cross in, whatever the quality. It's like he's playing in diving boots and has no feel for the ball to get under it and vary the pace and trajectory of delivery. WTF are they doing in training with him?
You can train all you want but if a player lacks composure under real game pressure it ain't gonna do much. Hate to say it, but at 22 Kenny just does not look capable at playing at high level in the top flight. If we are aiming for top 4 these two ain't going to cut it

When Kenny first came into the first team his crossing was pretty good. He was hitting them in from wide and before the 18 yard box. It seems that there's only Digne and out of the full backs who can drive to the dead ball line and whip in a cross with pace and height.

There's some poor coaching going on, because Coleman (never a great crosser) was better than he is now at crossing a few years back.

We have slightly loftier ambitions than WBA. I don't doubt he could make a decent defensive full back, but the full back role has moved on from the Hibbert and even Gary Neville style full back and is now primarily an attacking role. You only have to look at the mob across the park, or our own Lucas Digne to see that. It's like trying to compare Lescott and Baines. I'm sure Lescott could do a job at full back in his day, but he wasn't a left back and certainly wasn't in the class of Baines.

I'm sure Holgate could 'do a job', but we've got to aim higher than having backups that could simply do a job towards people who can genuinely come in and offer a similar performance to those they're replacing.

Lescott was a beast of a LB mate like really really good, got up and down , stopped crosses and scored 11 league goals in a season from there

Jonjoe has played under Koeman, Allardyce and Silva, he’s never had a sustained run in the team by any of them, not because he isn’t good enough, because in my opinion he is, but because none of them have believed in him, if one of them had faith in him he would have progressed, he’s been in and out of the team, dropped without good reason and if he’s not pissed off he should be, going forward he pick out his men better than Seamus and his defending is as good as well, I love Seamus but let’s be honest last season he had some very poor games amongst the good ones but was never dropped, Jonjoe should have been treated the same way but he wasn’t. Not up to standard, say some of you, I beg to differ, give him a decent run in the team and he’ll prove it, over to you Mr. Silva.

Mate Kenny has been ripped apart many a time and gets caught in no mans land a lot, he’s also very rash and commits himself when he shouldn’t and when he first came in all he did was tackle the ball out of play conceded he corners and throws , he wouldn’t be thinking of winning possession . He’s pumped up when he plays and obviously is trying very very hard to impress and you can see he loves the crowd noise after he puts a decent tackle in. I think going there will be good for him and maybe us, he’s a blue and if he does well I have no worries about him wanting to leave us if we tell him he’s going to game a decent crack here. If he isn’t good enough for us he may get a move to another prem club if he does ok over there.

He's getting on mate. Also had a broken leg I believe.

I like JJK think he can be the next in line after Seamus personally but seeing as everyone has wrote Seamus off maybe we need a new RB. No not a priority for me. Striker and CM first and foremost and probably a CB depending on the Zouma situation.

I don't feel RB is a priority.

Absolute tosh.
Seamus Coleman was on loan at Blackpool at 22.....playing right wing because he looked as far away from playing prem right back as you can get.

If we assume Zouma and Gomes are certainties (arguable, but stay with me for a minute), I look at our team and I wonder where needs to be strengthened next

For me, the glaringly obvious one is a striker. I like DCL a lot more than many on here, but I still don't think he should be our 1st choice striker (I think he gives us a lot though). That should be priority number one,

After that, it's less obvious but to me the next one is right back. Seamus cannot cross a ball and we are relying on our full backs to do this. On top of that I think JJK will go on to have a decent career, but probably not going to reach the level we want. A young-ish right back who is dynamic in the way JJK isn't and can cross a ball in the way Coleman can't is what I think our next priority is.

You see a very different Kenny to me, very rash? have a look at the goal at Anfield when Rooney scored the penalty, the move, to get the penalty, started with Jonjoe beating his man by our penalty area, calmly looking up and giving a great pass to Rooney in loads of space who makes another good pass to Calvin Lewin who wins the penalty, Watch Kenny look up and measure his centres, watch him in the home game versus Wolves putting plenty of passes to the feet of his team mates, in the same game screaming at Keane, a senior player and English international, to shape himself and move the ball forward. Jonjoe is pumped because he loves the team and the club and wants us to win, he’s played like this since I first saw him as a sixteen year old in the youth team. He made mistakes then and he makes them now, you know what, when he makes them, he puts his hand up and acknowledges them, never hides or blames someone else for the mistake. Jonjoe is a young lad who will make it at the top, I hope it is with Everton, I wish him all the luck in the world wherever it is.

I mean rash in the tackle , hoes to ground very early and when it’s not required.

Fair enough Tel001, I don’t see it your way, we just have different opinions on Jonjoe.

He is better going forward than he started off which is encouraging but he’s not good enough to force 20 starts for us at the moment and because of his age (22) it really is coming to the sink or swim time . This is why I believe going there would be good for him and possibly good for us, he has to do it for the sake of his own development and career I think.
